Senior Policy Advisor (Security/Defense)

We are actively seeking a Senior Policy Advisor for our client a top global law firm.

The practice:

• Integrates a top lobbying practice within a full-service law firm.
• A bipartisan group representing clients before the federal government on legislative, policy, and regulatory matters.
• Focus areas include national security, defense policy, and supply chain domestication.
• Team members have decades of experience in the private sector, military, and legislative and executive branches of government.
• Skilled in briefing department officials and congressional decision-makers on national security priorities.
• Leverages first-hand knowledge of Pentagon and congressional processes to advocate throughout defense budgeting, appropriations, and authorization processes.
• Assists clients in navigating national security regulatory regimes and obtaining authorization to conduct business worldwide.

Qualifications:

• Requires more than ten years of experience.
• Must have experience with policy issues and legislation related to national security.
• Experience working on Capitol Hill is preferred, ideally on congressional committees related to national security and defense policy.
• Experience working for an executive branch agency of jurisdiction is also preferred and may substitute for Capitol Hill experience.
• A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree (JD or Master’s) is strongly preferred.
• Must have stellar academic credentials.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills are required.
