As an Astera Labs Senior New Product Introduction(NPI)/Electrical Product(EPE) Engineer, you will be part of a Hardware Engineering team that designs and manufactures products featuring Astera Labs’ portfolio of connectivity ASICs used in the world’s leading cloud service providers, server and network OEMs. In this role you will be responsible for NPI - taking product from design stage to volume manufacturing. You will be working closely with designers, manufacturing team, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to ensure that hardware products test flow is properly introduced, released to manufacturing, and supported past production.

While your focus will be on NPI/EPE, you will have opportunity (and be expected - depending on your experience) to contribute to adjacent areas such as test engineering, validation, and quality. Being part of growing manufacturing team - we welcome the diverse experience you bring.

  • Own manufacturing NPI/EPE
  • Release BOM/new parts through ECO
  • Analyze end-to-end manufacturing capacity and work with operations team for future planning
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners on developing CM ability to prototype, launch, and transition to volume production
  • Work with factory and engineering teams to troubleshoot failures
  • Participate in / help to define manufacturing processes (NPI, product engineering, validation, quality)

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years in NPI/EPE
  • Strong academic and technical background in electrical engineering or electronic manufacturing. Bachelor’s in EE or equivalent experience is required.
  • Entrepreneurial, open-minded behavior and can-do attitude. Think and act with the customer in mind!
  • Able to travel to CM as needed.

Required Experience

  • Strong understanding of high-tech manufacturing processes, NPI activities, and product development lifecycle
  • Experience working with off-shore contract manufacturers
  • Track record of launching complex electronics products
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze manufacturing test data
  • Design for Manufacturability Experience, DFM, DFT, DFA
  • Bill of Material Structures and BOM Risk Management: PLM tool experience, (e.g. Arena, Agile)
  • Failure Analysis and Root Cause analysis of Contract Manufacturing issues.

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ Years of experience in Test Engineering
  • Familiarity with optical/electrical networking module manufacturing and testing (e.g. SFP+, QSFP, OSFP)
  • Familiarity with PCIe CEM card manufacturing and testing
  • SMT Process Improvement and Quality Control
  • Ability to Asses Contract Manufacturing gaps
  • EE design tools experience. Working knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools from Cadence, Altium, and others.
  • EE debug experience
  • Technical writing skills to generate clear, precise documentation such as manufacturing instruction/rework/deviation documents.
  • Experience with ASIC/silicon development

The base salary range is $120,000 - $170,000. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
