SUMMARY

This role will require the consultant to prepare environmental analyses and work collaboratively to prepare documentation that assists our clients with obtaining project approval under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Additionally, this position will aid in building a team of National NEPA environmental professionals.

The individual will assist in marketing, business development, client engagement, project management, and training staff on NEPA. The position will require that the individual have experience with preparing NEPA documentation such as Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA), Categorical Exclusions (CE), and Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) necessary to support project approvals.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Three or more years of experience with assisting clients in obtaining project approval under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) as well as familiarity with federal and regional environmental regulations, including Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act.
  2. Must have computer literacy, including basic programming, word processing, spreadsheet skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office software package as well as ArcGIS which is preferred but not a requirement.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversee a team of consultants to meet and exceed client expectations
  2. Interface with key stakeholders to achieve project goals (Bureau of Land Management, Fish and Wildlife Services, federal and regional governmental agencies, Indian tribes, etc.)
  3. Ensure quality deliverables [EIS, EA, CE, PELs] are delivered to clients on time and within budget
  4. Write proposals to support incoming NEPA projects
  5. Review on a monthly basis project billings and invoices sent out to clients

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental/Civil Engineering, Geology and/or related Atmospheric/Environmental Science from four-year college or university or foreign equivalent. Professional Engineer (preferably Civil) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification, or being on a path to obtain such certification, is desirable.


Must have computer literacy, including basic programming, word processing, spreadsheet skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office software package.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
