Senior Medical Science Liaison - Northeast

Nature and Scope

The Senior Medical Science Liaison will serve as a key information resource for field personnel and clients, providing in-depth scientific information on all American Regent products. In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities of the MSL position (described below), the Senior Medical Science Liaison will:


Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Act as a Medical/Scientific advisor regarding approved products for all American Regent Divisions.
  • Provide scientific information regarding on and off-label use of company products as requested by health care providers.
  • Respond to drug information inquiries from customers and healthcare professionals.
  • Provide medical and scientific support and assist in the training of the Marketing and Sales departments.
  • Identify resources and foster relationships, training and development of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
  • Interacts with KOL’s in the field to obtain feedback on products, source appropriate faculty to give presentations on behalf of the company.
  • Identify potential speakers and key opinion leaders for Speakers Bureau and Advisory Panels.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Speakers Bureau personnel.
  • Identify, contact, develop and maintain relationships with health care providers to establish and/or further the knowledge of division products and their appropriate use; when necessary, assist in resolving issues pertaining to that use.
  • Identify educational needs and research opportunities and implement tactics to support scientific needs.
  • Displays active listening skills with ability to provide follow up questions, clarifying discussion points, and paraphrasing when discussing clinical trials or disease states with KOL.
  • Describes and interprets findings of clinical trials to KOLs and audience.
  • Consistently and effectively responds to unsolicited requests.
  • Engages KOLs in discussion to build advocacy at regional and national level.
  • Works independently to resolve challenges and recognizes opportunities.
  • Demonstrates mastery of time management to be successful in geography, and as member of Medical Affairs.
  • Consistently works with Director of Field Medical to identify areas for personal development.
  • Liaise with study investigators as requested.
  • Work with Medical Affairs to develop and review scientific education materials.
  • Work with Medical Affairs to coordinate continuing education presentations and symposia.
  • Work with Director of Field Medical to develop and maintain strategic call plan to effectively achieve company objectives and goals.
  • Provide training and support for the company’s Speakers Bureau.
  • Identify key clinical meetings on local, state and national level.
  • Participate in special Regional and National projects e.g., team meetings, training, etc.
  • Attends training lectures, symposia and conferences in order to maintain current license and maintain and promote Company’s therapeutic areas of expertise.
  • Collect and report competitive intelligence within company guidelines.
  • Educate field personnel. Assist the field in calls when extensive knowledge and education is beneficial to the customer.

Education Requirements And Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • MD, PharmD, or PhD, required
  • 4+ years of Medical Science Liaison experience in pharmaceuticals, required.
  • Previous anemia management, cardiology, hematology/oncology, nephrology, gastroenterology, woman’s health experience preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Requires extensive understanding of the company's products, commercialization strategy, the competition, and the pharmaceutical industry in general.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and with appropriate input.
  • Ability to take feedback constructively and consider the viewpoints of others.
  • Flexibility in adapting to multiple therapeutic areas interchangeably.
  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated experience in working with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Must be willing to travel up to 60-70% of the time.
  • Candidate must reside in the covered territory (NY, ME, NH, VT, CT, MA, RI)


Expected Salary Range:

$170,000- $180,000


The salary range, displayed is the minimum and maximum annual salary range of compensation for the role that the employer in good faith believes to be accurate at the time of the posting of an advertisement for the role. Actual compensation for the role will be based on a number of different factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, education, knowledge, skills and experience.
