We are seeking an Senior Materials Engineer (Construction/Civil) to join our Los Angeles, CA team! Come join us!
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Make objective and reasonable materials engineering decisions related to ensuring material and products used in construction projects comply with contract requirements including performing project engineering reviews to identify material-related issues that may affect project quality
- Assist clients in anticipating and resolving any issues associated with material source inspection, QA activities. Meets with appropriate project personnel to identify materials related issues and recommends solutions consistent with project documents and Quality System manuals.
- Analyze material data provided by technical staff, including inspectors, in order to determine engineering solutions and provide engineering recommendations.
- Provide direction to inspectors and technical staff regarding materials inspection requirements.
- Maintain standards and consistency while minimizing the impact on work schedule and cost.
- Visit job sites, fabrication and manufacturing shops as needed to ensure adequate QA measures are employed in order to ensure compliance with project requirements. Ensure all Quality Control Plans are reviewed and submitted on time and review inspection reports in a timely manner.
- Provide Structural Steel & Precast Prestressed concrete fabricator audits and programmatic assessment services.
- Perform QA and audit functions as necessary to maintain project quality
- Provide incidental support services in claim resolutions
- Maintain awareness of safety and health requirements and enforcing applicable regulations – Departmental, State, Federal, site-specific and contract provisions
- Attend project planning meetings; provides project estimates and work plans for construction activities
- Provides technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, estimates, engineering specifications, cost tracking and project cost
- Conducts engineering investigations and plans work by completing tasks which may include data collection and analysis using established procedures, performance of engineering calculations, and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions
- Prepare material for reports and permit applications, gathering information, writing rough outlines, and/or preparing work progression documents and graphic presentations
- Performs such other duties as the supervisor may occasionally deem necessary
- Provides leadership and mentoring for less experienced engineers
Minimum Requirements:
- B.S. in civil engineering or other engineering field required
- E.I.T. required
- PE in California or another state preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience in construction materials engineering
Technical Requirements:
- Effective written, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team involving staff, clients and outside agencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and AutoCAD
- Strong problem-solving skills, including identifying data quality issues
- Strong organizational skills, including an ability to prioritize activities and work with limited supervision
- Results-oriented and able to complete tasks on deadline with little supervision
- Ability to make good decisions using sound, professional judgment
Other miscellaneous qualities:
- Valid CA Drivers License
Compensation:
$150,000 - $176,800 Annual Salary
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
