Job: Senior Materials Engineer
Location: Remote, United States
Salary: $200k
Our client is looking for a Senior Materials Engineer with extensive experience and expertise in non-destructive inspection development. This position supports the function of building and implementing both conventional and novel material solutions.
Responsibilities:
Develop materials and process control plans and NDI policies
Establish NDI requirements and best practices
Select and develop NDI methods to meet design needs
Create process specifications supporting manufacturing quality
Lead and coordinate NDI method development and materials testing
Assist in supplier selection, development, and evaluations
Mentor junior NDI engineers and develop training programs
Participate in industry groups and conferences
Travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in STEM or related field
5+ years of related experience or equivalent education and experience
NAS410/ASNT Level 3 certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and one additional method (IR, LM, ET, MT, PT, RT, etc.)
Proficiency in process mapping, SPC, PFMEA, DFMEA
Experience with MIL-HDBK-1823 methods
Expertise in materials and fabrication inspection
Technical proficiency in NDI test specifications and reports
Knowledge of AMS, SAE, ASTM standards
Familiarity with statistical software and MS Office
Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, and DOE principles
Preferred:
Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, NX)
Advanced UT, IR, LM methods for bonded joints
Advanced knowledge of CR, CT, or DR
Radiation Safety Officer training/experience
