Job Summary: The Senior Manager, Total Rewards will be responsible for the development, administration and strategy for shaping comprehensive compensation and benefits programs that enhance the company’s ability to hire, motivate and retain highly skilled, top talent. The position reports to the Senior Director, HR Operations & Talent Management and supports the organization by developing solutions and innovative approaches in the design of compensation and benefits solutions and strategies to achieve business goals. The position has responsibility for overseeing compensation and benefits, with supervision over the design, execution, and management of all related programs, including payroll and pension administration.

Top areas of focus:

  • Compensation and Benefits Strategy and Implementation: Assist in the development and manage the execution of a competitive total rewards strategy to include compensation, health and welfare benefits, wellness programming, 401(k), paid time off and other rewards & recognition programs. Partner with benefits broker and senior leadership to evaluate benefits offerings, review renewal options and plan design changes while assessing effective contribution schemes as part of a total compensation philosophy.
  • Partnering Effectively: Develops communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s compensation and benefits package and wellness goals, provide employee training and support for all employees across Plant Operations and Corporate.
  • External Market focus: Monitor the external benefits market and provide analysis of the impact on health and welfare plans. Identify opportunities to enhance our employee offerings based on market prevalence. Participate in national compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine company's competitive position in both the local and national marketplace through Job Architecture and Career Framework.
  • Delivering High Impact Results: Building, implementing and managing solutions that work with change management in mind. Develops long-range objectives regarding benefits and compensation programs in conjunction with HR Leadership team.
  • Data and Analytics: Providing insights into People data through quarterly dashboard and reporting (attrition, demographics, people movement, etc.). Analyze benefits experience and utilization to drive critical investments in our employees.


Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development of the overall strategy related to compensation and benefits including the design and delivery of employee benefit and incentive plans (including Salary, Short and Long-Term Incentives, Sales Incentives, Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, Disability, Employee Assistance, Worker’s Compensation and 401(k) Retirement Plan). Continuously works to automate, evaluate, and enhance third-party vendors and their systems and processes.
  • Manage the annual compensation process to include salary planning, salary adjustments, internal equity reviews and promotions. Conduct annual benchmarking analysis and support all compensation planning processes.
  • Manage participation in market surveys and provide thought leadership on total rewards methodologies. Evaluate the external compensation market, participate in annual surveys, understand and learn from best practices and industry research to track legislation and make recommendations.
  • Evaluate, redesign, and administer health and welfare, retirement and leave benefit programs, including negotiating with insurance carriers and vendors, handling broker and vendor relationships, supervising annual renewals, and leading open enrollment.
  • Works with HR Business Partners and function leaders to develop customized compensation solutions, including incentive programs and Job Architecture and Career Framework to support to support talent and business objectives.
  • Manages employee on-boarding by guiding new hires through benefits enrollment (annually or during life events), along with ongoing leave management and overseeing benefits off-boarding through post-employment COBRA enrollment for terminated employees. Responsible for all open enrollment activities across Corporate, Remote, and Plant employees.
  • Continuously review opportunities to improve and document our employee lifecycle processes, improve compensation and benefits policies and programs and procedures to ensure efficient and seamless HR operations.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and timelines as well as accuracy of required filings. Ensures accurate billing and reconciliation of all invoices, primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Coordinates and may lead global projects, including total compensation statements, mergers and acquisitions, and HIPAA, as they relate to group benefits issues. Additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.


Recipe for Success:

  • 8+ years of experience in Total Rewards specifically compensation and benefits roles with progressive growth
  • Strong project, systems and vendor management experience
  • Degree in Human Resources or directly related business experience
  • Experience with change initiatives, process improvement and/or simplification initiatives
  • Solid understanding of HR processes, data management and their impact on HR systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a deep ability to understand what motivates others
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize actions
  • Proven track record of developing, managing, and evaluating various components of incentive plans
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to evaluate, design, implement, and administer health benefits, retirement plans, leaves of absence, accommodations, workers compensation and wellness programs through the U.S.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers’ compensation, Medicare, COBRA, PPACA, and Social Security and DOL requirements
  • Experience with a diversified workforce including both hourly and salaried/exempt employees


In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $130k-$160k per year. Full-time employees are also eligible for performance-based bonuses and benefits. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, and location.
