The Senior Manager, Talent Management will serve as a strategic partner to designated business functions within Xeris. This position will identify, implement, and administer talent management strategies, systems, and processes that encompass the employee lifecycle to include talent acquisition, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, workforce planning, onboarding and offboarding activities, and compliance. The incumbent will serve as the liaison between their client groups and Human Resources requiring close collaboration with HR team members to ensure policies, programs, and initiatives that impact Xeris employees are consistently and thoughtfully implemented and administered. The Senior Manager will demonstrate creativity and conscientiousness when balancing employee needs with Xeris resources and is skilled at moving from strategic to tactical seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Formulates strong partnerships with designated functions to design and deliver value-added talent management programs to leadership and employees that are aligned with the Company’s overarching business objectives
  • Maintains effective level of business literacy about the life sciences industry, and Xeris’ technology, products, and business operations including financial position, short-term and long-term plans, culture, and talent competitiveness
  • Assists the Senior Director, Talent Management in driving organizational change by identifying and directing human resources initiatives such as workforce planning, organization development and design, and talent management programs
  • Accepts ownership for identifying solutions that align with the business need when responding to new and different requests; explores opportunities to add value to the Company through projects that enhance the employee experience
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to management and employees by providing advice, counsel, and direction that is aligned with Xeris policies and relevant employment laws and regulations
  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicates and enforces Xeris Factors for Success
  • Manages complex employee relations matters that include investigations, progressive discipline, corrective counseling, separation agreements, accommodations, unemployment, and EEOC complaints
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with internal and external legal counsel to bring resolution to employee relations matters
  • Manages the I-9 system and related processes
  • Oversees the Company’s relocation program to include the relocation policy and vendor relationship
  • Designs and facilitates learning and development initiatives and programs that will drive employee development and sustain and improve employee performance, engagement, and retention in compliance with regulations.
  • Evaluates current Talent Management vendors and makes recommendations that drive greater efficiency in both cost and operational effectiveness.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; ensures adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Participates in exit activities and conducts exit interviews with exiting employees and identifies common themes to elevate to management on a periodic basis
  • Guides and advises Talent Management colleagues in the development and implementation of new hire onboarding program and oversees administrative aspects related to new hire onboarding; monitors feedback and metrics to continually improve the program
  • Participates in initiatives and/or other activities as directed

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in Human Resources or business preferred
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or Society of Human Resources Manager Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred
  • 7 - 10 years of progressive HR experience, to include full employee lifecycle support that encompasses multiple HR disciplines
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a professional environment required; prior experience working with commercial organizations to include field sales teams is a plus
  • Human Resources experience in the pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred
  • Excellent computer skills required including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and administer talent management programs, processes, and systems
  • Must be able to handle highly sensitive and confidential information (discretion is of utmost importance)
  • Demonstrated ability to set example and maintain a positive culture and environment for company
  • Compliance with all relevant Xeris policies, procedures, and processes

Working Conditions

  • Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations. Periodic overnight travel required.
  • This is a hybrid role based in Xeris’ Chicago office and requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. Four days/week on-site is preferred due to the nature of the position. On-site requirement may change at management’s discretion.
