We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manager of Software Engineering to oversee the development, customization, and maintenance of our WordPress-based media sites. This role offers the opportunity to lead a talented team of remote software engineers and make a significant impact on our technical strategy and project execution.

How will you make an impact?

  • Build and mentor a team of remote software engineers, including contractors.
  • Provide guidance, support, and feedback to foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Oversee the development, customization, and maintenance of multiple WordPress-based media sites.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices, security standards, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate advertising solutions and interactive modules into our WordPress sites.
  • Enhance user engagement and maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and priorities to ensure timely delivery of features and enhancements.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and reliability.
  • Participate in design and architecture discussions and prepare solution documents or technical requirement documents.
  • Drive the technical roadmap for our owned and operated sites.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement to stay ahead of industry trends and meet evolving business needs.
  • Implement robust testing processes and quality assurance measures.
  • Ensure our sites' and integrated modules' stability, scalability, and usability.
  • Monitor site performance metrics and user feedback.
  • Proactively identify and address areas for improvement to enhance the overall user experience and drive engagement.
  • Foster strong communication and collaboration with stakeholders across the organization, including editorial, design, product, and revenue teams.
  • Align priorities and deliver impactful solutions.

How Will You Make an Impact?

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership management role.
  • Extensive experience with WordPress development, including theme and plugin development, customization, and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, React, PHP, and MySQL.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex software projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to succeed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $200,000. Pay offered may vary within the posted range based on a number of factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
