About USA Football

USA Football is the governing body of American football in the United States, the sole US member of the International Federation of American Football, and a recognized sports organization of the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Its non-profit mission includes designing and delivering premier educational, development, and competitive programs for American football, including tackle and flag football. USA Football is the only organization that selects and organizes men’s and women’s US National Teams in federation-sanctioned international competition.

Job Function: The Senior Manager, Events is responsible for planning and executing assigned events in USA Football’s portfolio including: grassroots events, regional, national and international events, plus conferences and clinics. This position will manage all event preparation, ops coordination, sponsorship fulfillment and logistics for each assigned event while mainting compliance with industry standards. In addition to core planning and execution duties, responsibilities include public relations (possible public speaking), committee meetings, volunteer management and information and financial management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily activities and growth of the staff supervised
  • Oversee events staff in planning and execution of all events
  • Oversee the contract process, logistical planning, and insurance needs for the following events including but not limited to):
    • National Flag Team – Adult & Junior
    • National Tackle Team – Men & Women
    • Tournaments & Championships – Domestic & International (i.e. World Games, The One, etc.)
    • National Team Olympic-Inspired Development Program (i.e. Scouting, Talent ID, etc.)
    • Grassroots Community Programming (i.e. USA Football’s Blitz, Girls Development, Coach Clinics, etc.)
    • Any other events as assigned
  • Support and advise on the strategic planning efforts for annual events
  • Ensure USA Football events afford opportunities for a diverse set of participants (I.e., girls, women, ethnic minorities, individuals with varying ability levels, etc.)
  • Support the advancement of the engagement of quality events and competition for the high-performance and National Team strategy
  • Development and management of all event budgets to ensure profitability & efficiency as well as event-specific ROI
  • Engage and maintain relationship with consultants, suppliers, partners and vendors in the execution of events activities
  • Maintain and manage relationships with event service providers and host locations/CVBs.
  • Develop and implement event safety policies and procedures inline with industry standards
  • Preliminary approval for contracts with consultants and event venues for various programs, initiatives and events
  • Responsible for budgeting, planning, and execution of International Federation of American Football (IFAF) sanctioned international events hosted by USA Football
  • Identify, summarize and clearly report on trends, concerns and potential solutions that provide advisement to management internal departments looking to effectively serve and engage the football ecosystem
  • Develop and implement post event reporting and evaluation plans
  • Oversee apparel management and ordering process for the organization
  • Serve as a liaison within USA Football council and committees
  • Onsite event execution support/oversight
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, master’s degree preferred
  • At least 7 years of sporting event operations experience, including three years in a people management role
  • Exceptional project management and operations management skills
  • Organized and attentive to details
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Robust budget management and analytical skills
  • Microsoft Office experience, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and manage different types of personalities
  • Knowledge and understanding of youth sports, the role of NGBs, and USA Football's mission and function
  • Ability to travel frequently for extended periods of time with heavy travel in Spring and Summer. Estimated travel is 30% of business working days.

As required by the Equal Pay Transparency Act, USA Football provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, etc. The pay range for this position is as follows: $55,209 – $88,191.

This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program. Must meet requirements.

Work Environment

This job primarily operates in a remote office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

Physical Demands

Requires the ability to sit for more than four hours per day, reading, listening, stooping, bending, and manual dexterity.
