Job Description
Uncommon Schools is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Real Estate and Facilities team as the Senior Manager, New York Facilities. This role presents an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring the excellence of our 21 buildings in New York City and our six buildings in Rochester, NY, by overseeing facility operations and contributing to our goals for outstanding facilities management and customer service.
They will serve as the primary liaison with Directors of Operations and, in New York City, with the NYC Board of Education facilities managers. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs, managing facility upkeep, and collaborating with Senior Real Estate and Facilities team members to oversee capital improvement budgets and projects. Over time, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop into an experienced project manager for capital projects.

Compensation for this position: Candidates who meet all job description requirements will likely receive an offer of $100,800. The starting compensation for this role is between $95,200 to $112,000. The starting pay will depend on various factors including but not limited to relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. To receive an offer at the top of the range, candidates will need significant experience beyond the job description requirements. Because we value staff tenure in a role, we do not currently cap salary ranges for current staff members.

Qualifications
- Ensure that all Uncommon facilities meet high standards of safety, efficiency, cleanliness, and reliability.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with counterparts in the New York City Department of Education (DOE), Regional Superintendents of Operations, school Operations personnel, third-party professionals, and contractors.
- Manage property management firms responsible for Uncommon's private facilities, ensuring prompt and thorough resolution of repair needs and adherence to cleanliness standards.
- Cultivate productive relationships with DOE facility teams, oversee day-to-day operations, and collaborate to expedite repairs and maintain cleanliness.
- Foster collaborative relationships with Uncommon Schools' Directors of Operations, Regional Superintendents of Operations, and the Home Office Real Estate team.
- Lead regular site meetings with Directors of Operations and represent Uncommon at co-located Building Council meetings.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for NYC project requests from Directors of Operations and facilitate project review meetings.
- Support submissions to the NYC DOE Office of Space Planning and Division of School Facilities for approval of capital projects.
- Actively participate in the implementation of larger capital projects and manage the bidding and award process for cleaning contracts.
- Oversee summer cleaning operations in collaboration with Directors of Operations.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of the building portfolio to support bid specification preparation and review.
- Represent the Senior Director, Network-Wide Facilities as needed.
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience with comprehensive knowledge of various facility systems and repairs, including plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and roof repair.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assistant-project-management-level coordination skills for capital and long-term projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Create Suite, with knowledge of AutoCAD and construction scheduling software preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
- Willingness to work weekends as required.
