Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Leadership Development is responsible for defining and leading Swissport’s leadership development strategy. This position plays a critical role in building a strong leadership culture and ensuring that the organization has the leadership talent needed to achieve its strategic goals.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Leadership Strategy: Design and execute a comprehensive leadership pipeline and development strategy that aligns with the organization’s vision, mission and strategic objectives
  • Competency Framework: Define and refine the organizational and leadership competency framework and assimilate them into our Swissport culture
  • Talent Pipeline Management: Support succession planning efforts to identify and prepare high-potential employees to build a robust pipeline of ready leaders
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and lead the global portfolio of leadership assessments (360 Degree Feedback, DiSC, Hogan, etc.), advise on usage and best-in-class practices, and manage internal and external coaching pools
  • Learning and Development: Partner with the Learning Academy Team to design, deploy and manage leadership development programs utilizing a variety of instructional methods and technologies to deliver engaging and effective leadership learning that is aimed at building capability and bench strength
  • Team Effectiveness: Build out our team and leadership effectiveness capabilities to enhance the performance, cohesion and collaboration of teams
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate and foster strong relationships with senior leaders, HR and other key stakeholders to assess and understand development needs, ensure program alignment and gain buy-in for leadership initiatives within their regions
  • Metrics and Analytics: Partner with leadership and HR to measure bench strength and determine the impact of leadership initiatives
  • Industry Trends and Best Practices: Maintain a strong connection to industry leaders of Leadership Development and continue development of personal and team subject matter expertise


Required Experiences and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field
  • Extensive knowledge of best practices in developing leaders and experience applying these best practices within organizations
  • Proven results in design and delivery of programs and processes that build leadership bench strength (e.g., methods for selection, assessment, performance management, development, talent management/succession planning)
  • Deep expertise in competency modeling and needs assessment and analysis
  • Proficiency in evaluation of leadership programs
  • Experience in consulting to senior leaders on leadership issues and capability gaps
  • Experience integrating competencies into organizational insights that build leadership bench strength
  • Ability to proactively manage large, multi-year projects to ensure budgets, schedules and performance criteria are met
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Passion for creating a positive and inclusive work culture that values diversity and inclusion
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required
