Senior Manager, Global Payroll

The Senior Manager of Global Payroll will work with the Head of Financial Operations, Human Resources, Legal, Tax, Finance and the Accounting and Finance colleagues in a hands-on role building, managing and leading the day-to-day activities and strategy of a Global Payroll department, with a focus on developing an international payroll organization. This position will report directly to the Corporate Controller.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage end to end payroll process for hourly and salaried employees which includes but is not limited to review, validation and reconciliation of payroll data to ensure accurate and timely processing and payment
  • Design, develop and implement payroll strategy and operating model within the context of an expanding operations globally in partnership with the People (HR) team
  • Work closely with cross functional teams within the Company on equity based activity, global mobility, tax, benefits and new business activities to ensure global payroll needs are identified, considered and communicated
  • Function closely with payroll provider ADP and BDO to guarantee accurate and timely processing of payroll to all employees globally
  • Continuously evaluate tools and systems, and identify ways to optimize the payroll function and enable business process transformation while maintaining strong quality controls
  • Stay current on regulations, benefit changes and labor laws impacting payroll process, and partner with internal stakeholders to stay compliant with all payroll tax jurisdictions
  • Mentor and coach staff to develop subject matter expertise across the team on all payroll related matters i.e. benefits, tax and payroll reporting compliance for domestic and international employees
  • Establish the Payroll department as a key partner and resource with all organizations
  • Evaluate and audit all payroll components, wire requests and journal entries
  • Partner in on boarding, compensation, benefits and shared business application ownership of ADP
  • Function closely with the Accounting team on the period-end close procedures
  • Oversee and review the reconciliation of the international and domestic payroll bank accounts and the payroll general ledger accounts
  • Partner with payroll system to record all regulations and processes in validation of local and federal regulatory requirements
  • Offer industry proficiency in aiding the organization’s decision making process
  • Establish and supervise an annual operating objective plan for the payroll organization to manage annual budget planning

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be able to be in-person 25% of the time
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, human resources or related field, including accounting, finance, and business administration.
  • 8+ years of domestic and international experience in the payroll profession
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a rapidly growing environment
  • Proven experience partnering with human resources, third party and internal payroll systems supporting a global company
  • Skills and knowledge to scale payroll services and improve current process and systems
  • Develop a collaborative and productive partnership with People team (Human Resources), Accounting, Finance, Legal, and manufacturing/production organizations
  • Proven track record of scaling the payroll function and experience transforming payroll operations efficiency
  • Familiarity with ADP, Workday, Google Docs, MS Word, Excel, and other common applications used for payroll processing
  • Strong aptitude for time management, with excellent organizational ability to attain payroll and closing deadlines
  • Extensive knowledge of domestic payroll laws and regulations
  • A focused, self-motivated, and energetic attitude with a strong work ethic, along with a strong business service partnership approach
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SAP
  • An active Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) is a plus

$144,000 - $264,000 a year

This U.S. based, full-time position offers the above base salary range + equity + benefits + bonus for sales incentive plan roles. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
