As Senior Manager, Finance And Accounting, You Will

Lead the accounting department and manage all aspects of corporate and escrow accounting, daily reconciliation, tax compliance, and forecasting.

What You Will Work On

  • Manage, mentor, and continuously develop Accounting department team members and contractors with a focus on building a high-performing, highly engaged team
  • Own the accounting function for various title insurance & escrow subsidiaries and collaborate with the local teams
  • Oversee and own the daily reconciliation of funds received in multiple escrow accounts
  • Review the daily maintenance of title and escrow activities, including funds management (incoming and outgoing), and resolution of account discrepancies
  • Ensure proper and consistent application of revenue recognition across entities as per US GAAP
  • Maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations for escrow accounts
  • Lead escheatment process and submit unclaimed property to the state as needed
  • Maintain and monitor all bank accounts for all entities as well as handle transfers and wire requests
  • Review Positive Pay exceptions and ACH alerts on a daily basis
  • Review the month-end close process in accordance with US GAAP
  • Review and reconcile escrow vendor statements monthly
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and help lead monthly business review sessions
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on financial strategy, budgeting, and accounting policies
  • Create financial models to understand the impact of future decisions or events
  • Oversee cash management and cash flow forecasting efforts
  • Work with statutory partner to complete NAIC quarterly and annual filings
  • Assist in compiling data for regulatory reports, including both title agency and underwriter data calls
  • Independently manage deadlines and submit timely financial and/or regulatory filings across all active markets
  • Coordinate various state escrow, financial, Department of Insurance and underwriter audits
  • Provide excellent customer service by proactively managing escalated issues and bringing them to resolution
  • Assist with the resolution of account discrepancies by collaborating with the internal teams, with underwriters, as well as with escrow and title officers
  • Assist with building and maintaining a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over title and escrow activities across various markets
  • Coordinate with external auditors regarding the financial audit as well as controls testing
  • Other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned

What We Are Looking For In You

  • 5+ years in a corporate accounting role
  • 3+ years of title and escrow experience is required
  • Experience with multi-entity and multi-state accounting is required
  • Experience working with tax partners to file federal and state returns is required
  • Advanced excel skills are required
  • Experience with Quickbooks is required
  • Experience with NetSuite and Qualia are preferred
  • NAIC filing experience is preferred
  • Experience managing a finance and accounting team is preferred
  • Ability to navigate a highly cross-functional organization and create a culture of collaboration between accounting and the rest of the company
  • Ability to collaborate with, and guide, outside finance and accounting consultants
  • Highly motivated with a positive, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to wear many hats as the Accounting and Finance functions evolve
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing internal controls in a startup environment
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP coupled with exceptional planning and organization skills
  • Knowledge and experience implementing ALTA best practices is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with cross functional teams
  • Strong communication and organizational skills as well as impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and handle several deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong analysis, problem solving and decision-making skills
