Senior Manager, Battery Storage

The Senior Manager of Battery Storage is responsible for overseeing all aspects of battery storage project design, technical innovation, estimating activities, and preconstruction project management. This role is critical in driving company profitability and delivering cost-effective, innovative technical solutions, executable project budgets, and advanced leadership in project execution.

Reports to: VP, BESS

Location/Travel: Remote position with optional travel for client meetings, site visits, and industry events

Works closely with: Customers, Executive Leadership, Marketing & Communications, Business Development, Engineering Planning & Estimating, Procurement, Operations, and Vendor and Trade Partners

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities:

• Recruit, develop, and mentor engineering, estimating, and project management team members who align with our clients' Core Principles and promote Preferred Selection.
• Develop and continuously refine best practices, standards, and review processes for the Engineering and Estimating teams.
• Foster innovation and creativity in design tools, processes, and plant technology to position our clients as industry leaders in engineering, procurement, and construction.
• Engage regularly with Engineering, Estimating, and Procurement teams to ensure BESS processes align with our clients' standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to account for all technical aspects and site conditions while maintaining cost-competitiveness, constructability, and risk mitigation.

Bid Phase:

• Direct BESS engineering activities to exceed customer expectations and deliver innovative, best-in-class technical solutions.
• Lead internal and external collaboration and reviews to ensure conceptual designs meet project requirements and optimize cost, performance, constructability, and risk.
• Manage the pricing efforts for detailed and indicative BESS opportunities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all estimates prior to submission.

Post-Award/Construction Phase:

• Oversee detailed engineering efforts to ensure timely submission of deliverables, compliance with customer and AHJ requirements, quality standards, and budget assumptions.
• Conduct technical reviews of all selected materials to ensure compliance with internal and external specifications.
• Support Operations by resolving RFIs, field changes, and other design-related issues, including evaluating proposed changes to project design requirements, material specifications, or methods.
• Assist in contract negotiations for client and subcontractor scopes.
• Coordinate the Lessons Learned process with Preconstruction and Construction Teams to incorporate best practices into future projects.
