Senior Manager, Analytics & Business Intelligence

As the Senior Manager of Analytics & Business Intelligence, you will play a pivotal role in generating data-driven business cases to catalyze change; developing business intelligence tools, databases, and dashboards; and advancing the enterprise data strategy. With access to oral, medical, and other data, in a fully cloud based data and analytics environment, you will help advance startup business models, market analyses and onboard and analyze the data from 3rd party pilot programs to prove the impact of innovative services and solutions.


You will work closely with the Innovation Programs and Services team (which designs and executes the SMILE Health accelerator and Pilot programs), Business and Ecosystem Development team (which develops a range of industry partnerships), and the Ventures/Investing Portfolio team (which manages the investment portfolio). In addition, you will actively collaborate with the Data and Analytics Center of Excellence of CareQuest Institute and will play a key role in developing the overall data assets of CareQuest.


The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in guiding teams in developing and executing a range of analytics in the healthcare space using claims and unstructured (e.g., EHR) data sets. You should have experience testing and proving specific hypotheses using data, working closely with business leaders, and working on both short turnaround analytical studies and longer projects.



ROLE OBJECTIVES:

  • analytics for startup company business validation studies, including assessing business models, market research and sizing, and creating business cases for decision makers.
  • and implement analytics for pilot programs including data intake and management, performance dashboards, and analytics to test clinical and business outcomes.
  • Support advancement of a strong data infrastructure, governance, and tools to enable CareQuest Innovation Partners’ data assets and data-driven operations.
  • Collaborate across CareQuest Innovation Partners, CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, and aspects of our joint ecosystem to advance innovative business models, solutions, and offerings



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Data Acquisition and Governance:


Collaborate closely with the CareQuest Institute Data and Analytics Center of Excellence to:

  • Advance and manage the data acquisition strategy and approach for CareQuest Innovation Partners, including appropriate data scope and type as well as onboarding methodology for each external dataset.
  • Implement data governance (e.g., data catalog, data stewards, data quality controls, integration and consolidation of data) and analytics governance (e.g., standardized metrics definitions) to enable effective analytics and appropriate self-service access by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create process improvements and recommends system changes to enhance overall quality of the data and efficiency of data processes.
  • Manage and monitor data access by relevant internal and external stakeholders in alignment with data access policies.
  • Develop and implement a plan to democratize appropriate business impact and trends data access and insights within CareQuest Innovation Partners and in relation to external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.



Data Analytics, Insights, and Reporting:


  • Lead analytics for CareQuest Innovation Partners, including appropriate approaches to data mining, analytic modeling, and application of statistical methods leveraging practical knowledge of health data for business needs.
  • Develop data-driven value propositions, business cases, and impact cases across the innovation portfolio, including but not limited to initiatives in integrated medical/oral care or value-based care.
  • Design and develop tools and interactive dashboards to showcase key metrics and performance indicators of programs/services; generate reports and insights for partners to track impact/progress; leverage data & insights to support internal and external business leaders in key decision making.
  • Develop internal impact analyses and reporting to ensure value of startup acceleration, innovation programs/services, impact investing, and partnership activities is understood by key internal and external stakeholders.



Cross-Functional Collaboration:


  • Support the data and insights needs of CareQuest Innovation Partners’ portfolio companies, strategic partners, and programmatic collaborators.
  • Work actively with the key teams within CareQuest Innovation Partners – Innovation Programs and Services, Ventures/Investing Portfolio, Business and Ecosystem Development.
  • Collaborate on the enterprise data strategy and with the Institute’s Data & Analytics Center of Excellence team on data governance, analytic methodologies, team capability development, and thought leadership.



REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, business or related field.
  • 5+ years of corporate, non-profit, or consulting experience in analytic roles in a healthcare setting working with payor and/or provider data (e.g., claims, EHR data). Experience with dental claims or electronic dental record data preferred.
  • Programming abilities in R, Python, SAS, Stata, or similar.
  • 3+ years of experience in a management role with (preferred) or without direct reports.
  • Experience developing and executing all aspects of business analytics to develop robust business case and assess outcomes in a health care setting
  • Experience in cloud-based data storage & processing environments (ideally Azure, Snowflake, Databricks), big data and analytical tools including developing dashboards in PowerBI and/or Tableau.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and achieve milestones/deliverables timely and to high quality.
  • Ability to develop and implement solutions/resources to continuously improve and maximize team effectiveness.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management, driving key stakeholder decisions and actions.
  • Passion for improving healthcare through innovation and application of data and analytics.
