The Senior Manager, Accounting will be responsible for managing the general ledger and leading the accounting function, including development of the team, as well as continuous improvement of the organization's accounting initiatives, principles, practices, and procedures. This position will oversee the timely monthly close of the General Ledger, consolidation and reporting of financial results, coordination of audits, review and implementation of new and revised accounting policies, the development of and compliance with internal controls, staff leadership and more.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage month-end close process including the accurate and timely recording of income, expenses and changes in assets and liabilities on a monthly basis in accordance with IFRS requirements
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement trend analysis for management
  • Overall management responsibility for the general ledger, accounts payable and revenue teams, including providing effective mentoring and coaching
  • Serve as an internal technical accounting expert which includes performing research and preparing technical accounting memos and also includes reviewing new and existing revenue contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition
  • Monitor relevant IFRS, US GAAP and SEC developments to ensure revenue recognition policies and procedures are in compliance with current standards and assist in the implementation of revenue recognition reporting and process improvements based upon industry trends, authoritative literature and business objectives
  • Develop and/or improve existing policies, procedures and controls which ensure integrity over financial reporting, especially related to revenue recognition
  • Maintain a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over cash management activities
  • Responsible for certain debt compliance activities
  • Participate in quarterly revenue forecasting procedures and the annual budget process
  • Provide support to any special and ad-hoc projects and drive automation of processes
  • Support the annual audit, provide supporting analysis and technical accounting memos
  • Works with Controller on various initiatives and completes other ad-hoc requests

Experience And Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • CPA Certification Required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of finance and accounting experience with at least two (2) years of management experience
  • Minimum of of two (2) years of public accounting experience required
  • Software revenue recognition and SEC reporting experience a plus
  • System implementation experience a plus

Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

  • Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of both IFRS and US GAAP including experience with technical research and preparation of accounting memorandums
  • Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to the finance and non-finance team
  • Working knowledge of corporate tax compliance concepts and processes
  • Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, multi-task efficiently and manage individuals.
  • Detail oriented with high level of ethics and integrity
  • Experience with accounting systems, Microsoft Dynamics AX experience a Plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and have knowledge depth in complex functions/data analysis using tools such as V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, etc.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for the majority of the work day
  • This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard the majority of their work day
  • This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods of time to observe their own and others’ work, as well as, incoming and outgoing communications via the computer and/ or mobile devices.
  • The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
  • The work environment is an open room with other associates and noise from others will be part of the regular work day
