About The Job

Job Title: Senior Landman

Department: Land

Summary Of Position

The Senior Landman will work as a technical expert handling complex land assignments associated with company assets located in South Texas. A proven landman capable of working independently with limited daily supervision. This person will need to lead various projects requiring a broad knowledge of oil and gas operations, including but not limited to, title, curative, contracts, division of interests, and regulatory requirements. A qualified candidate will have extensive experience in assessing complex land issues, researching possible solutions and collaborating with a multi-functional team to resolve the issue in a timely manner. Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills will be required for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day assignments with rigor, including review of complex agreements (OGLs, SUAs, PSAs, etc) and providing guidance as to future or on-going company operations;
  • Perform title examination in advance of drilling, proactively curing title requirements, preparing well-by-well divisions of interest and providing final title approval prior to spud;
  • Review and draft complex agreements associated with company operations;
  • Plan and coordinate pad locations, rights of way, and easements;
  • Act as senior resource for addressing complex inquires from internal and external stakeholders;
  • Help develop and execute strategies for optimal development of company assets;
  • Aide A&D efforts (acquisitions/divestitures/trades) through negotiation, due diligence, integration or other matters as requested;
  • Review and approve new well deck setups and associated ownership maintenance;
  • Actively works to establish or refine land department processes and procedures;
  • Mentor and advise on highly complex land issues;
  • Coordinate reports and land information flow with the multi-functional team;
  • All tasks and responsibilities as identified by management;

Qualifications

  • 4 year college degree or higher degree (PLM, EM or Law degree is a plus)
  • A minimum 8+ years of in-house O&G experience.
  • AAPL CPL certification preferred.
  • Extensive experience in evaluating and addressing complex oil and gas issues.
  • Significant due diligence experience related to transaction of oil and gas interests.
  • Solid understanding of mineral and surface ownership principles including regulatory rules and processes, specifically Texas.
  • Experience in working with oil & gas accounting subject matter and administration of properties as an operator.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively communicate both verbally and written.
  • Strict adherence to safe operating practices and compliance with company Environment, Safety & Regulatory requirements.

Relocation:

Preferential treatment will be granted to candidates residing in the Denver metropolitan area.

Compensation & Benefits

Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (EPEWA) and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation.

Compensation:

The annual rate for this position generally ranges between $160,000- $215,000 with an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, of up to 50% of eligible pay. This role, depending on skill level and experience, may also participate in the Long-Term Incentive Plan with annual awards, vesting over three years, ranging from 12-24% of stated annual target. These ranges are estimates, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs, business performance to metrics, and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
