Duties And Responsibilities
- Determine title to prospective lands, availability for leasing, and applicable regulatory guidelines. Conduct title review, Title Curative, and identify curative actions required to remedy contract and mineral lease deficiencies.
- Acquire interests in prospective lands by leasing directly from landowners or via negotiating agreements with industry competitors. Review mineral lease files to determine royalty assets.
- Advise lease records department of acquisitions and ensure the particulars of the acquired interests are accurately set up in the system for maintenance and accounting. Run JIB and DOI Decks and entitlement Deck updates. Understand deck interest memos and supplemental desks for computation for GWI, WI, ORRI, NPRI, and RI. Advise and continually update Accounting and Division Order Departments on information necessary to ensure that all billable expenditures are properly billed out and collected.
- Either directly or through the use and supervision of outside attorneys, perform whatever actions are reasonably necessary to confirm title and otherwise protect the Company's interest prior to commencement of drilling operations, including where necessary, obtaining title opinions for lands where wells are to be drilled and ensure that all necessary title curative is performed.
- Negotiate, draft, and consummate all necessary agreements with third-party participants to ensure payment of costs and proper operation of wells. Negotiate and manage trades within East Texas. Provide the Division Order Department information necessary to ensure proper distribution and collection of revenue attributable to initial production from wells, such as post-completion title confirmation and information, including division order title opinions where applicable and providing particulars of all pertinent contracts and agreements.
- Understand General O&G Accounting, COPAS, and Title Bonding (AAA).
- Interconnect and Gas Tie-In Agreements, SWD-ROW Agreements, Ingress and Egress on Surface for Rightaways, and Seismic Agreements.
- General Contract drafting and execution for NDAs, MSA, JOA, JDA, and Interest Participation Agreements, operating agreements ( AAPL Forms 610-1989), and exhibit documentation. LOIs for Interest and PSAs.
- Advise and continually update Accounting and Division Order Departments of information necessary to ensure that all billable expenditures are properly billed out and collected.
- Advise management and other departments; Geology Departments of pertinent matters related to ownership of leases and drilling of wells, i.e., who should receive information from wells, specific obligations contained in leases, etc. Able to create surface Plates, Acerage Mapping, right away, DSU Units, and Pooled Acerage. To collaborate and draft competitor maps, units, etc.
- Either directly or through the use and supervision of outside attorneys, obtain necessary regulatory orders and approvals relating to drilling or producing wells or forced acquisition of interests. To be able to Chain and review ownership for HBP wells and units.
- Be proactive in determining effective negotiating tactics and strategies, finding and developing prospective opportunities, and Ad-Valorem Interest and operator disputes.
- Understands RRC filing and forms required for Pooling P-12’s, Production, W- forms, SWRs, Proration Units, DSU’s for Horizontals, etc.
- Strong knowledge of TEXAS and/or LOUISIANA within the lower 48 Onshore is required with a strong emphasis on East Texas.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and Proficient Computer Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Land Management or Energy Management, Business Administration, Law, or related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience with an active oil and gas exploration company.
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
- AAPL Certified Petroleum Landman certification ( JOA, JDA, etc)
- Wolfpak Accounting Software General Knowledge
- Enverus, Quorum Land Base, GIS Mapping
- Leasing, Division Order, Title Opinion
- Understands Deeds, Easements Deeds of Trust, Probate, and Mineral Reservations.
