We have an opening for a Senior Financial Analyst in our Finance Department.

The Senior Financial Analyst is positioned in the Finance Department and supports the Firm’s reporting and data analytics needs, to ensure accurate and reliable financial information is provided for decision making and planning. You will directly interact with Firm Leadership, Attorneys, Information Technology, Practice Innovation, Business Development, Talent Management, the Finance Department, and other areas within the Firm. Externally, you may interact with third-party consultants and vendors who support the Firm’s financial systems, report development and business intelligence applications, in the integration and innovation of the Firm’s reporting and analytics.

In this capacity, the Senior Financial Analyst will:

  • Liaise closely and collaborate with the Reports team and other Financial functions within the firm;
  • Collaborate in the development, deployment, installation, and distribution of processes and information, including time and billing, accounting, business intelligence, profitability, and KPI reporting;
  • Determine cooperatively with practice group leaders, business and operations leaders the effective reporting, analysis, methods and procedures to meet their needs;
  • Understand, manipulate, and link data within and among the Finance systems and others in order to meaningfully support business goals, performance objectives, strategy, and confidentiality;
  • Interface with executive staff, management, and partners to develop reporting analysis, and methods, and procedures to meet their needs in a multi-jurisdictional environment and in light of Firm goals and culture;
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned;
  • Prepare analysis, reports and presentations for Practice Group leaders, Department Chairs and Finance leadership;
  • Perform in-depth analysis using critical thinking skills to provide accurate financial insights in a format that is useful and meaningful to the audience;
  • Provide financial reports, data visualizations, and reporting packages for Firm leadership and management to use in decision making using Tableau;
  • Summarize analytical results and effectively communicate with various levels of stakeholders;
  • Interpret data needs and design, develop, and deploy analytical tools to improve and optimize business decisions and performance;
  • Have knowledge of data and process mining through SQL and the ability to apply this knowledge to large volumes of data to reach meaningful conclusions;
  • Develop reports for financial analysis and production using Tableau, Excel, and other tools that access the firm’s financial databases;
  • Drive advancements in the Firm’s reporting, data visualization and analysis capabilities;
  • Stay updated on financial results within the legal industry through research and current events;
  • Work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction; take action when answers to a problem are not readily apparent;
  • Manage recurring deliverables in accordance with agreed upon specifications and set deadlines;
  • Review and monitor workflow of financial analysts for accuracy and consistency in accordance with firm standards;
  • Balance and prioritize tasks and projects based on deadlines or the importance and urgency.

Proficiencies:

  • Advanced-level proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint;
  • Intermediate Tableau or Power BI;
  • Experience with accounting software and other advanced financial applications;
  • Experience working in a Law Firm (strongly preferred);
  • Capability to learn and follow Firm and practice-area-specific procedures and terminology; and
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance (preferred);
  • At least 5 years of financial reporting experience (preferred);
  • At least 5 years’ related and transferable experience in professional services management, technology, finance, project management, operations, as well as demonstrated analytical and operational skills, ability to develop and cultivate strong professional working relationships with diverse colleague group, and ability to engender motivation and confidence in all members of the firm;
  • Accounting, financial analysis, profitability and business intelligence experience (preferred); and
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills coupled with a demonstrated ability to present complex ideas to attorneys and staff.

The salary wage range that we expect to pay for this position is a minimum of $90,600 and a maximum of $117,700 annually. The actual pay wage may vary based on experience or other relevant factors.
