Building on its extensive programming and successful model in the United States, KIND is expanding in the Americas and Europe to bring its experience to bear in working with unaccompanied and separated children. Our work focuses on addressing the legal and mental health needs of this population; building strong partnerships and engaging in training and capacity strengthening with governments, NGOs, and the private sector; and advocating for systemic and pragmatic reforms to advance the rights of unaccompanied and separated children.

Position Summary
KIND seeks a full-time Senior Director, U.S. Psychosocial Services to provide critical leadership, and strategic direction to ensure high-quality social service delivery to unaccompanied and migrant children. The incumbent is responsible for the oversight and administrative operations including data and reporting compliance for the Social Services Program across all U.S.-based field offices. This position will also lead in the design, planning, and implementation of trauma-informed, and culturally responsive services aligned with the Social Services Framework. This position reports to the Vice President, U.S. Psychosocial Services. This Senior Director, U.S. Psychosocial Services will have both internal and external responsibilities and be integral to KIND’s mission of advancing best practices in the field.

This is a remote position based from any location in the U.S.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and executes the strategy for Social Services delivery in support of KIND’s mission through a child-centered, trauma informed, and culturally responsive lens, in collaboration with Vice President, U.S. Psychosocial Services.
  • Provides leadership and expertise on Social Services programming across KIND and to range of stakeholders.
  • Supports strategic growth, develop, and lead implementation of outcomes framework.
  • Directly supervises U.S. Regional Directors, and Deputy Directors.
  • Works closely with Development and participate in fund development, grant reporting and meeting with prospective donors.
  • Works closely with Office Operations, Finance, Development, and Human Resources teams on relevant priorities for the U.S. Social Services teams.
  • Works closely with Planning and Performance department to ensure data and reporting compliance specific to Social Services.
  • Represents KIND at conferences, panels, and other local, national, and international stakeholder engagement opportunities.
  • Supervises program directors and program staff as deemed necessary
  • Works closely with Legal Programs Management to develop and implement internal priorities, policies, and procedures in support of Social Services.
  • Actively assists with thought leadership and innovative strategic planning, expansion, and other service delivery efforts such as opening new offices, implementing new programs, and piloting new initiatives.
  • Creates, updates, and implements ethical policies and guidelines for Social Services.
  • Inspires and fosters trust, facilitate cooperation through DEI practices.
  • Collaborates across departments and serve as a resource for Social Services.
  • Other Duties as assigned.



Qualifications And Requirements

  • Advanced degree in social work or in related field; licensure preferred.
  • Must be fluent in English and in Spanish.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience collaborating with immigrant populations, unaccompanied minors, at risk youth, or young children.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract and grant management and attendant responsibilities, including planning and budget development, hiring, reporting and program evaluation
  • SIFI certification or equivalent and experience supervising interns.
  • Strong record of intercultural responsiveness, sensitivity and awareness, and cross-cultural communication skills, responsive practice, and a racial equity lens. of Microsoft Office Suite (such as Teams, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and multi-task in our KIND environment, managing numerous priorities and emerging opportunities
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment; ability to prioritize tasks and delegate as appropriate
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and communication styles
