Hartmann Young is exclusively retained with a company specialising in the production and distribution of high-quality dietary supplements and vitamins. We are working together to find a Sr. Director of Supply Chain & Procurement, responsible for the strategic advancement of the department, significantly impacting organisational performance.


This role entails delivering on cost-saving goals, managing on-time performance, and negotiating key ingredient/component contracts. A detailed knowledge of the marketplace for raw materials, packaging items, and external contract services is essential. The Sr. Director must possess contract manufacturing experience and excel in negotiating with multiple vendors.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and monitor the output (frequency & accuracy) of each Purchasing team member. Review and approve key high-value purchase orders, ensuring requisitions have appropriate approval and required information.
  • Develop, lead, and execute the purchasing strategy in collaboration with the COO.
  • Observe existing purchasing policies and create new ones to enhance processes.
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other departments to improve existing processes and create new processes that lead to organisational improvements.
  • Negotiate with vendors on all supplies.
  • Address issues with vendor delays and overall performance.
  • Identify alternate sourcing for raw materials, packaging items, and services for existing items. Coach the team on best sourcing practices and develop vendor relationships.
  • Identify cost savings for existing items.
  • Achieve the yearly cost savings target set by senior management.
  • Review and update reorder points for all items.
  • Oversee the maintenance of purchasing-related Item Master fields and ensure vendor contact information is up-to-date.
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks.
  • Participate in weekly Out of Stock meetings and New Business meetings.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Accounting to review cash management.
  • Provide month-end explanations of spend variances.
  • Perform projects and tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain or 5 years of manufacturing or equivalent experience with a focus on supply chain.

Experience:

  • Proven ability to negotiate with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and ERP systems.
  • Experience with Smartsheet/MS Teams is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and aptitude for accounting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Technical Skills & Personal Attributes:

  • Must work well in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects at a given time.
  • Vendor relationship management is critical to this role.
  • Ability to hold peers accountable and challenge management when necessary.
  • Experience in the Nutritional/Pharma industry is a plus.
  • Work well cross-functionally.


This position requires you to be based on-site in New Jersey, United States. There is no Visa Sponsorship but they are offering a relocation package to move a candidate across state.
