Senior Director, Procurement and Planning

Position Overview

The Senior Director, Procurement and Planning reports directly to the Vice President of Purchasing & Production Planning and works in conjunction with the Purchasing, Sourcing and Production Planning teams. The key scope of this position will be to manage and support the Procurement team to review, analyze, order and track purchases for ingredients and packaging. Also, to develop strong business relationships working closely with ingredient and packaging suppliers and manufacturing partners to coordinate the movement of materials for production. The Director will need to bring his/her understanding of purchasing and inventory management, and strong analytical and database skills to efficiently achieve company-wide business goals including using partners who meet specific standards for sustainability, fair trade practices, and organic ingredients. Advanced analytics development will also be a key feature of this role.

The Senior Director will work in a cross functional environment that includes Customer Service, Logistics, QA, Compliance and Finance. Supervises 2 direct reports (Purchasing & Inventory Specialists) and has oversight of certain warehouse inventory transactions and inbound ocean containers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Purchasing and Replenishment

• Manage database of inventories for all ingredients, packaging and services to accurately control in stock position at multiple copackers and warehouses.
• Based on production planning forecasts, evaluate in-stock inventories and determine purchasing needs to meet material requirements.
• Update and manage MRP process for material planning purposes.
• Manage inventory replenishment based on lead times, minimum order requirements and all other necessary factors.
• Set up new supplier information for ingredients and packaging in database and maintain current supplier information.
• Create and/or approve Purchase Orders from Purchasing Team using SAP or other company-used software
• Coordinate with team to monitor Purchase Orders, follow up on orders and ensure accurate and timely delivery.
• Maintain pricing database for ingredients, packaging and co-packing services
• Track cost savings via spreadsheet and update quarterly.
• Create and use analytical tools and reports to ensure the most economical and timely purchasing decisions.
  
  

Raw Material Planning/Management

• Create ingredient and packaging bill of materials (BOMs) for third party warehouses, manufacturers and Sambazon Technical Services Team.
• Coordinate with vendors and co-manufactures to arrange on time delivery and ensure ingredients and packaging arrive in good condition.
• Manage quality assurance documentation for raw materials and ongoing management of Certificate of Analysis database.
• As necessary, coordinate the return of inventories of ingredients/packaging post-production to third party warehouses.
  
  

Invoice Reconciliation and Database Maintenance

• Perform ingredient and packaging transfers in SAP.
• Process co-manufacturers batch cards and reconciles finished goods after production.
• Process invoices from suppliers and co-manufactures by performing inbound verification of incoming materials in SAP.
• Maintain SAP data reconciliation to ensure up to date and accurate inventory quantities, lot numbers, etc. and research and fix any discrepancies.
• Manage post-production procedure of conversion of raw materials to finished products in SAP.
  
  

Qualifications

• At least ten (10) years of experience in purchasing and planning environment in the food and beverage industry. Purchasing/Planning with a CPG company is strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Experience working with SAP software or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
• Highly detail oriented, accurate and organized
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Able to manage a fast-paced, changing environment while effectively handling multiple prioritieS
