SUMMARY:

The Senior Director, Philanthropy at the Community Foundation Tampa Bay will play a key role in expanding our impact by cultivating relationships with prospective donors/fundholders. They will drive the execution of strategies to meet CFTB's growth objectives, with a focus on engaging professional advisors, individuals, and foundations. This individual will be responsible for initiating new funds and overseeing charitable giving transactions, including managing complex gifts with precision and expertise. This position will also serve as the Primary Relationship Manager (PRM) for a select number of existing fundholders focused on stewardship and engagement.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (including, but not limited to):


Prospecting/Business Development/Community Representation

  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors and fundholders.
  • Provide prospective donors, professional advisors, and fundholders with integrated, high quality administrative, financial, grant making and planned giving services.
  • Designs and implements curated experiences that engage prospects and professional advisors.
  • Serve as one of CFTB’s public speakers, or qualified trainers.
  • Participate as needed on selected community boards, associations, and roundtables.
  • Participate with professional advisor outreach including new relationships and stewarding ongoing relationships with professional advisors through intentional engagement programs.
  • Attend networking events to represent CFTB with target audiences.


 

Steward Existing Donors and Fundholders

  • Assists donors and fundholders in supporting community needs that are consistent with their philanthropic goals (PRM assignments).
  • Encourage new and continued contributions by involving donors in the vision and strategic initiatives of the Foundation.


Operational and Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Senior Vice President of Philanthropy to facilitate goals set by the Philanthropy Team and Senior Staff.
  • Assist with complex gifts as needed.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skill.


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

•        Bachelor’s degree and four (4) to ten (10) years of related experience and/or training in business development, fundraising or sales.

•        Knowledge of planned giving and complex charitable gift transactions preferred.

•        Proven track record of closing sales/transactions.

•        Familiarity with a variety of charitable giving vehicles such as donor advised funds, endowments and planned giving.

•        Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and families.


SKILLS REQUIRED:

•        Strong interpersonal skills (high EQ).

•        Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

•        Advanced computer skills, including a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.

•        Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, effectively with staff, clients, committee members, and Board of Trustees.

•        Ability to draft agreements. 

•        Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

•        Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 

•        Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

•        High level of discernment.
