Senior Director of Supply Chain

About the role

The Senior Director of Supply Chain is responsible for development of the global supply chain strategy – from supplier selection and qualification to supplier commercial relationship to material management to logistics management both inbound and outbound. This role will be responsible for commodity management and commercial terms and agreements with suppliers; will be responsible for materials management strategies and execution of the materials planning process, tactical procurement process, plant materials and inventory processes, and ERP alignment to enable these strategies and tactics. Role will also be responsible for alignment of logistics strategies with commercial and material plans on the in-bound side and for working with customer teams on outbound freight and storage actions.


Responsibilities


Safety - Drive a safety culture through process, metrics, accountability, and that includes full employee engagement to deliver an outstanding safety experience for all employees, suppliers, contractors, and visitors that work-in or visit our manufacturing locations. SR Director of Supply Chain will work with safety leadership on development and deployment of safety management systems and ensure long-term safety plans deliver a zero-incident outcome.


Commodity Management – Work with operations and our leadership to identify supplier strategies and then develop and deploy process to identify, develop, source, and develop commercial agreements with a focus on safety, supplier delivered quality, on-time delivery and cost structure. Strategies and agreements will be in alignment with the company`s business needs. Responsible for establishing strong partnerships with suppliers and supplier leadership and coordinating quarterly business reviews with strategic partners.

SIOP – Responsible for engagement with our leadership on the monthly SIOP process. Need to develop and ensure supplier capacities are documented and updated within the company`s system to ensure supply side capacities can and will enable customer demand.


Material Planning – Responsible for developing and deploying materials planning processes within the organization with a focus on linking SIOP demand with the planning and execution model within the plant operations. Requires working across the procurement, planning, and operations teams to ensure the ERP system is developed, deployed, and maintained to drive most effective working capital and operational efficiency.


Inventory Management – Responsible for developing, deploying, and executing an inventory strategy from receiving process through material storage, work order management processes, finished goods inventory processes, and ensuring a high level of inventory accuracy to enable efficiency in the operations and supplier release process. Requires leading the team through the development and deployment and on-going monitoring through KPIs.


Logistics – responsible for aligning logistics and warehousing strategies with suppliers and operations and also with field service team on delivery at customer sites. Alignment with supplier commercial strategies and operational inventory strategies are required to be understood to enable the most cost-effective logistics model.


New Product Introduction – responsible for supplier development in support of new product introduction – from prototype suppliers through full production. Responsible for working with product engineering, quality, operational excellence, and the plants to ensure capacity, quality, design-for-manufacturing, cost, and logistics of new suppliers are in alignment with business needs.


Leadership – responsible for establishing a performance culture, driving systems and process, establishing clear expectations and accountability, and ensuring the team is working towards common objective with urgency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to drive safety and quality culture.
  • Clean understanding of contracts, logistics, ERP, materials, and building an overall aligned global supply chain strategy.
  • Clear understanding of KPI and accountability reviews
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, deploy and improve processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a high-performing team.


Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree Required - Course of study: Engineering, Business, or related field

Master’s Degree Preferred - Course of study: Engineering, Business, or related field

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of experience in leading supply chain operations
  • Experience with scaling businesses
  • Experience developing, deploying, and driving processes.
