POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Senior Director of Business Development

Native American Connections seeks an accomplished and multi-faceted Senior Director of Business Development. We seek a dynamic Business Development Executive with demonstrated accomplishments in formulating and executing the business development strategy for a growth-driven non-profit organization and skills to spearhead mission-critical business initiatives. The ideal candidate is a business development expert defining and leading fundraising/development, marketing, public relations/communications, and building and collaborating with community and business partners. The Business Development leader is key to building brand awareness. The highly experienced hands-on synergetic executive leader acts as a key adviser and trusted thought partner, to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and reports to the President/CEO.

We seek an exceptional professional with a clear understanding of the healthcare, housing, and community development landscape. S/he will understand the unique challenges and opportunities in our business space and be able to articulate our mission and business goals/initiatives. The candidate will participate in identifying potential sources of demand and articulating a strategy for branding that creates a streamlined, consistent message to our, current and potential patients, community partners, and donors while translating the NAC mission into resource development opportunities.

NAC needs a talented organizational and interpersonal communicator and people-development-focused executive with a strategic mindset, an extraordinary level of empathy, and hands-on engagement in aligning strategic and operational goals to achieve superior results.

Further, s/he will focus on identifying, nurturing, and acquiring new clients/partnerships and business opportunities to drive and sustain growth and brand awareness. With the result being a business expansion, improved revenue, and service offerings.

Business Development leader is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing an integrated development plan that builds upon and expands NAC’s development initiatives to date. S/he must implement an annual fundraising strategy, including quarterly activities and metrics. S/he will work to foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization and ensure the organization’s structure, systems, and procedures support fund development. The Business Development leader’s tasks include identifying, cultivating, soliciting, sustaining, and stewarding existing and new individual, foundation, and corporate donors, extending into local city, county, state, and federal agencies; maintaining a portfolio of foundations, corporate, and individual donors; working with President/CEO and the SLT to regularly communicate, cultivate and solicit top donors and funders. S/he will work to expand the network of donor prospects, identify opportunities for increased support, and manage events to maximize results.

The successful candidate for this position must:

Possess at a minimum a bachelor’s degree with a field of study that includes business administration, marketing, and communications. Master’s degree is preferred. Eight or more years of experience in business development, fundraising/development, and marketing is required. MBA is highly desired. Previous experience as a Sr. Director or C-Suite level experience in a healthcare and housing setting is preferred.

Experience and Competencies:

The Sr. Director of Business Development (SDBD) serves a key role in creating a positive and supportive environment for all NAC staff and in ensuring that business development practices throughout the organization comply with NAC policies. Other specific duties include:

  • Under the CEO's supervision, the primary role of the Senior Director of Business Development (SDBD) will be a strategic thought partner to the CEO, COO, CFO, and senior leadership. Will work closely with senior leadership and stakeholders to shape and deliver initiatives and be responsible for ensuring that the initiatives are aligned with the company's overall strategy; essentially building a bridge between the strategic plan of a business and the actual day-to-day function of the business.
  • SDBD will lead business intelligence, and analyze market and operational data to drive efficiencies, revenue acceleration, and forecasting. Leads discussions and highlights operational and growth opportunities based on analytics and data-driven findings.
  • The SDBD must have strong strategic planning skills and be capable of developing and implementing clear goals, systems, and priorities. S/he must have strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to easily connect with others and effectively collaborate. S/he must be able to manage a complex workload with high production requirements.


Background:

  • Extensive background in transforming teams and cultures, and business development strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with senior leadership and external partners, build relationships, establish credibility, conduct substantive content discussions, solve problems, and identify relevant resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to step beyond the function to look at the overall business from a strategic perspective.
  • Mastered the art of persuasion and negotiation, excelled in tailoring compelling pitches to diverse audiences, driving successful partnerships, and expanding the client/patient base.
  • A working knowledge of and experience in a non-profit setting, be driven to succeed, be able to handle multi-priorities; manage the stress of multiple, concurrent demands; possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; be able to skillfully engage others; and a good steward of the organization’s culture and strong community history.
  • Experience working with Native American organizations or tribal governments is preferred.
  • Awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs, or willingness to learn; an ability at times to meet and deal effectively with tribal governments and Indian health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures. Tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.


Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000

INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preference may be given to qualified Native American Indians according to the Indian Preference Hiring Act, CFR 25 USC 472. Other than Indian Preference, Native American Connections, Inc. adheres to all provisions of the Equal Employment Opportunities Act.
