Senior Director Machine Learning

Scienta are partnered with a VC backed biotechnology company leveraging a proprietary machine learning platform for the discovery of novel antibody therapeutics and have recently raised $67M in Series A funding.

Position Overview: The Director of Machine Learning will work directly with the Chief Technology Officer to lead efforts in developing and deploying advanced machine learning models and algorithms. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and a proven track record in the application of machine learning to solve complex biological problems. The ideal candidate will be passionate about advancing biotechnology and possess the leadership skills necessary to guide a talented team of data scientists and machine learning engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of machine learning models and algorithms for various biotechnology applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biologists, chemists, and software engineers, to integrate machine learning solutions into our product pipeline.
• Develop and execute a strategic vision for the machine learning department, aligning with the company’s overall goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in machine learning, with a significant portion in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and Java, as well as machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
