We are seeking a Senior Director of IT to play a pivotal role in leading the strategic direction, development, and management of information technology to support the unique needs and challenges of the healthcare industry. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will oversee a team of IT professionals and collaborate closely with other departments to ensure the efficient and effective use of technology to improve patient care, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Support: Assist the CTO in developing and executing the company’s IT strategy. Provide strategic guidance to ensure IT initiatives align with business goals and healthcare industry standards.
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day IT operations, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of all IT systems. Manage IT staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Healthcare IT Compliance: Ensure all IT systems and processes comply with healthcare and public company regulations such as HIPAA, HITECH, SOX, and other relevant standards.
  • IT Security Implementation: Work closely with the Chief Information Security Officer to implement changes to the environment ensuring data security and patient privacy.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage IT projects, from conception through implementation, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Utilize project management methodologies to track progress and deliver results.
  • Systems Integration and Automation: Oversee the integration of disparate systems to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability. Implement automation solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce manual processes, and improve accuracy in healthcare operations.
  • Innovation and Technology: Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in the healthcare tech industry. Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvements to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with technology vendors and service providers. Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance to ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the IT budget. Optimize resource allocation to ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure the company’s IT systems are resilient and can quickly recover from disruptions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clinical, operational, and administrative stakeholders to understand their IT needs and provide tailored solutions. Communicate IT strategies and progress to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Team Development: Mentor and develop IT staff, promoting continuous learning and professional growth. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the IT department.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the healthcare or health tech industry.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of IT systems, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data analytics. Experience in healthcare a plus.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated success in managing complex IT projects in a healthcare setting. PMP or similar certification is a plus.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements, including HIPAA and HITECH.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Innovation: A passion for leveraging technology to improve healthcare outcomes and operational efficiency.
