This Role

The Sr. Director of Global Indirect Procurement is responsible for developing and driving the Procurement vision with key stakeholders in the company. This individual will be a key partner to functional leaders across the company focusing on strategy, execution and implementation. This position will facilitate the development and execution of long-term strategies that will optimize quality, serviceability, technology, risk, and total cost across all Indirect categories.

The Responsibilities

  • Global procurement category ownership with responsibility for strategic through tactical-level execution for all Indirect categories, such as IT, Capex, Lab Supplies, MRO, Travel, HR and Finance.
  • Lead and implement Procurement Operations initiatives such as tracking and reporting of Key Performance Indicators and developing process improvements for all procurement workflows (both Direct and Indirect).
  • Requires strategic business partnering with functional leaders such as Operations, Quality, Legal, IT, HR, and Finance.
  • Partner with Finance and the shared services team to develop relevant KPI reporting and drive efficiencies in procurement process flows.
  • Delivers on key objectives (Annual Operating Plan - AOP), delivery, quality, service, cost, innovation, and growth commitments in support of Simtra’s business goals
  • Partners with Supply Chain to create demand plans for supplier partners
  • Responsible for the coordination of business projects and programs (e.g. M&A integration, make or buy, vendor transition, CSR), supervising execution and presenting results to senior leaders

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Works with supplier leadership (Vice President of Global Procurement, Functional and Operations Leaders) to solve business problems and assure alignment with Simtra’s objectives
  • Develops and assess purchasing talent and improve resource productivity and professionalism
  • Mentors and develops staff through coaching and development plans to address individual areas of improvement
  • Implements talent initiatives to improve Employee Involvement Survey results
  • Drives development and implementation of common processes, standardized practices, use of tools and technologies that can be scaled company wide

Desirable Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Materials Management or a related area or equivalent; MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of work experience
  • Confirmed experience leading and running diverse globally located remote based procurement staff focusing on mentoring, coaching and performance management
  • High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills relevant to sourcing Indirect Categories
  • Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of colleagues
  • Proven flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to expertly present complex information to senior leaders
  • Results oriented, metrics driven leader with a root cause, permanent fix approach, continuous improvement approach

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong procurement and sourcing background
  • Experience in the Life Sciences is preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of operations
  • Progressively responsible career path in manufacturing operations and procurement with significant practical experience in international settings
  • Strong analytical skills and process focus
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and unquestioned integrity and trust
  • Travel - approximately 20% - domestic and global
