What’s so interesting about this role?

Yes, you read correctly: the most exciting job of your life is beckoning; we are seeking a Senior Director, Corporate Communications to join Grindr to establish, develop, and execute our communication strategies to advance Grindr's brand affinity and reputation globally. You will build out the function pretty much from the ground up, and drive all of Grindr comms, positioning the company as the Global Gayborhood in your pocket, and leveraging our heritage and authority as the global connector for the LGBTQ+ community.

Our marketing strategy is simple: we lead with comms and content. This isn’t your typical comms role, but one where your work will be central to all our marketing efforts. You will create influential corp and consumer campaigns that span social media, product, and brand, working with highly talented XFN partners to further establish the Grindr story in the global market. You will also be a key point of contact for media relations and internal and external comms, and will steer our C-suite in their positioning as well. Finally, you will run point on all crisis comms. Things change quickly here, and this leadership role will require someone who can communicate swiftly and effectively across all levels of the organization and externally, all while building a best in class comms team. What’s the job?

  • Lead Grindr's corporate communication strategies, including all external and internal comms
  • Build and oversee integrated comms campaigns that span both consumer and social
  • Manage Grindr's media outreach program, including drafting press releases, managing media inquiries, and preparing our executives for speaking engagements
  • Manage frequent crises and changes that include developing crisis response plans with cross-functional parties and executing them effectively and with alacrity
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, as well as media outlets, industry analysts, and influencers
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of communication programs and initiatives, and use data to inform future strategy
  • Oversee Grindr's internal communications programs, including employee communications, executive communications, and company-wide announcements
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support key business initiatives, such as product launches, corporate events, and partnerships


What We'll Love About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field or an equivalent of 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or related field
  • Excellent corporate communications skills, including external and internal comms
  • Demonstrated experience building integrated comms campaigns across consumer and social
  • Strong understanding of public affairs and levers that can be pulled in varying circumstances and across all media
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and coach and mentor junior staff
  • Knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community and experience working with diverse populations


We’ll really swoon if you have

  • Either in-agency experience or effective management of multiple agencies
  • Speech writing experience
  • Experience of working in or with an integrated content first marketing team

Grindr is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role will also be eligible for equity, benefits, and a company bonus program.

Los Angeles Base Pay Range

$250,000—$295,000 USD

New York Base Pay Range

$265,000—$310,000 USD
