Senior Director, Group Delivery

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading all engineering efforts related to the value streams/digital factories including projects, teams, and deliverables.
  • Responsible for collaborating with product management to determine requirements and roadmaps across the organization.
  • Responsible for maintaining and understanding engineering capacity and demand across the organization.
  • Responsible for managing employee performance and administrative leadership requirements. Responsible for collaboration with enterprise architecture and platform teams. Key driver to the Value Stream Steering Committees.
  • Leads value stream engineering leaders and ensures alignment of dependencies across the value stream products to meet business needs.
  • Partners with Product Management and Technical PMO director to ensure successful delivery of initiatives and coverage across key initiatives.
  • Responsible for establishing KPIs for software development as well as delivering on OKRs.
  • Responsible for driving team accountability and performance based on defined/expected KPIs.
  • Define engineering standards and drive those best practices across the organization.
  • Leverage metrics to drive continuous improvement efforts, engineering standards per our defined IT Governance standards.
  • Understands big picture of all value streams and understand business architecture, reuse opportunities across Upbound.
  • Foster innovation & collaboration across their teams.
  • Estimation driving and planning, ensuring teams are providing sound estimates at annual, quarterly, and monthly planning while adapting their work plans to deliver according to priorities.
  • Partner with QA to ensure high quality software delivery and ensure teams are effectively responding to issues in a timely manner.
  • Overall responsible for engineering application delivery to meet organizational goals and objectives.

In addition to this, this person will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines and deliver high quality software solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to industry best practices, standards, and regulatory requirements throughout the software engineering process.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and software engineering practices, and incorporate them into the development process as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other senior leaders to align software engineering efforts with overall business goals and objectives.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to executive management on the progress, achievements, and challenges of the software engineering function, including financial performance and budget utilization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Responsible for directing and controlling activities at the most senior level within the function.
  • Staying current on new technologies and ensuring the CoE is delivering best in class technology in their respective area of ownership.
  • Accountable for technology roadmap.
  • Accountable for adoption of our agile operating model and delivery standards across their teams.

Required Functional Skills & Expertise Level:

  • Expert in software engineering (15+ years of software engineering & product development)
  • Ability to understand and articulate big picture technology and architecture.
  • Understanding of platform and service development
  • Demonstrated experience building, leading, and delivering in complex technology environments.
  • Ability to strategically drive digital transformation from an engineering perspective and guide teams through the adoption of new ways of working across the Upbound Organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering quality enterprise software development projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, especially presentation and negotiation skills.

Required Leadership (Management/ Behavioral) Skills & Expertise level:

  • 15+ years of demonstrated experience leading in an engineering or technology capacity.
  • Leading and delivering complex systems.
  • Strong EQ leader which is skilled in collaborating in a matrix environment
  • Lead distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • Strategic visionary leader who can and bring teams together to execute on the vision.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills by establishing clear goals, objectives and priorities that communicate the organization’s vision.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering or technology
  • Understanding of quality assurance and security
  • Experience in an agile environment.
  • Proven track record balancing multiple complex cross-functional projects and processes with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up 15% as needed.
