Ferrilli, a Higher Ed Professional Services organization, seeks an experienced Cyber Security professional to join our team as a Senior IT Security Consultant. This role requires an experienced consultant with expertise in assessing client environments, establishing security protocols, assessing potential security threats, security policy development, and creating contingency plans for clients. A combination of technical, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. The successful candidate will possess a background in strategic risk, is passionate about security, has worked as a professional services consultant, and enjoys working with multiple clients in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic IT Cyber Security consulting
Plan, execute, and report on client security, risk, and vulnerability assessments
Conduct vulnerability
Provide strategic direction to clients on the design, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive Cyber Security Program
Security Policy Development
Lead and/or assist with the development of design specifications, migration plans, and operational best practices based on client requirements
Assist client in development of organizational Cyber Incident Response Plan
Aid client in response to suspected or actual breach or threat
Consult on corrective and preventative measures to prevent future incidents
Possess current knowledge of leading Cyber Security technologies and platforms
Advise clients on email and file encryption
Identify and suggest improvements to existing security systems
Lead, manage, and mentor a team of IT security specialists
Provide client training to recognize security threats and adhere to the organization’s security best practices
Provide technical leadership and engineering support to clients and in-house teams
Communicate with clients to discuss security measures and provide information on the designed system
Possess current knowledge of GLBA, FERPA, HIPPA, and PCI compliance requirements and standards for higher ed
Participate in industry trade shows or conferences as a SME
Required Skills And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field
5+ years of experience in security management
3+ years in a client consulting role
Experience in endpoint security
Experience building security architecture that meets business requirements
Experience leading or managing projects within the technical security space
Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary Security, Cloud, and Infrastructure design team
Experience providing threat-based design guidance for security programs
Knowledge of vulnerability assessment tools
Thorough knowledge of technical risk analysis, assessment, and mitigation
Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell
Knowledge of GLBA, FERPA, HIPPA, and PCI compliance requirements and standards for higher ed
Knowledge of physical and digital protection systems
Knowledge of AI tools used in threat prevention and detection
Strong communication skills and ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant security or consulting discipline
Technical security certification such as CISM, CISSP, or GIAC
Higher Education industry experience
