The Senior Contracts Manager is responsible for supporting the contracts creation, negotiation and closing process striving for compromises and mutual acceptance that balance business and legal risk mitigation with sales support and a desire to win the deal to continue driving the business forward. Primary responsibilities include contract drafting, review of redlines for contractual documents, obtain appropriate approvals as required, provide markups/responses back to the client, participate in phone calls with clients to work through sticking points, track work within Salesforce/Apttus, and maintain contract information necessary to support future contract development.
Successful accomplishments and primary accountabilities of this position will depend upon establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the client's business and legal teams as well as the different Hearst teams including legal, risk management, sales, leadership, finance, security, and operations.
You Will:
Using templates, draft new contracts
Review and respond to redlines by clients
Obtain applicable approvals for nonstandard changes to templates
Keep Salesforce and Apttus updated for any agreements that contracts manager is working on
Identify and/or help implement process improvements in the end-to-end contract engagement data flow
Review and edit Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
Review and action on miscellaneous letters and/or contractual documents received from clients
Review and correct Salesforce/Apttus entries as needed or requested by the Finance team
Support team members in contract review and redline strategy
Assist in training and onboarding of new team members
What We're Looking For:
BA/BS degree required
At least 8 years of relevant work experience
Ability to take ownership of a project/initiative and manage it to its completion
Skilled at using Salesforce, Apttus or other CRM systems
Ability to draft, review, negotiate and redline contractual documents at a high-volume capacity
Experienced in calculating pro-rations for pricing, including complex discounts for multi-facilities with various solutions
Ability to distinguish between various product offerings and what contract should be used
Able to demonstrate a high level of literacy with strong communication skills
Ability to adapt and succeed in a dynamic setting
Critical thinker and problem solver
Highly effective at multitasking; thrives in a fast-paced environment
Able to work independently with little or no direction
Extensive experience with MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Word and Adobe
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous in-house legal experience
Certificate in Contract Management and/or Paralegal CertificationPrevious experience working with government entities at all levels (City, County, State, Federal, Tribal, etc.)
Previous experience with HIPAA and Business Associate Agreements
Previous experience supporting a software and/or subscription business
Pay Range: $103,400 -144,700
Other compensation: Bonus Eligible
