Senior Compliance Engineer

sonnen seeks to hire a compliance engineer who will collaborate on the development and certification of Energy Storage and power conversion systems. Based out of our Atlanta Innovation Hub, an ideal candidate for this position is someone who excited to collaborate with a diverse and dedicated team, a skilled individual with knowledge in the regulatory compliance of electrical products and power conversion systems.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret product standards and collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate test specifications into product specifications.
  • Participate in product design reviews and provide input, identify any areas of design risk,
  • Develop test plans, test criteria and methodologies to meet product standard testing requirements.
  • Conduct internal pre-compliance testing
  • Coordinate between internal project teams and external testing bodies
  • Organize project documentation and coordinate with Nationally Recognized Test Laboratories (NRTLs) to conduct product review and testing.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) according to manufacturing practices and certification criteria.
  • Co-ordinate Design for Manufacturability (DFM) engineers and the production team to develop test plans that comply with the design parameters, manufacturing parameters and grid code certification requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or relevant field
  • Minimum 1-2 year of experience in product compliance
  • Demonstrated experience with U.S, Canadian and other international product safety standards, i.e ANSI, UL, CSA, EN, IEC is a plus
  • Good understanding of EMC standards.
  • Strong knowledge of standards such as UL1741, SA, IEE1547 and similar standards.
  • Experience in the operation of testing equipment such as Power analyzers, scopes, signal acquisition devices, data loggers and dielectric testers.
  • Experience with high voltage systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Ability to travel – about 10% of the time.
