Role Summary:
Provides advanced-level consultation, guidance, and direction in compensation to human resources professionals, institutional leadership, and customers. Offers in-depth content expertise and project management in the design, development, and/or implementation of compensation programs, policies, and practices. Ensures all compensation programs comply with federal and state laws and meet organizational business objectives. Reporting to the Compensation Manager, this role assumes responsibility for key components/activities of the compensation program, development, and administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Consultation and Guidance:
Collaborates with internal HR professionals (ER Generalists, Recruiters, HRIS Analysts) and external customers to provide advice, business solutions, guidance, leadership, and resolution on compensation-related issues.
Interprets compensation policies and analyzes internal/external market data to offer strategic recommendations.
Data Analysis and Strategic Recommendations:
Provides advanced data analysis related to market and internal equity issues.
Conducts job analyses and evaluations for designated customer groups.
Compliance and Accuracy:
Conducts periodic audits of all phases of the compensation process to ensure compliance with compensation guidelines/policies.
Maintains accurate records and documentation.
Collaboration and Leadership:
Works with compensation leadership to design, execute, and measure compensation programs that support business objectives.
Monitors market trends and evaluates the external competitiveness of salary administration programs.
Coordinates special projects and resolves complex compensation issues, participating in multi-departmental teams and multi-disciplinary projects (e.g., Compensation Strategy Committee).
Annual Market Review:
Manages the annual market review process, including data review, regression analyses, structure movement, and market recommendations based on vendor surveys and market pricing tools.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensures all compensation programs/practices comply with federal and state regulatory requirements.
Directs corrective actions where appropriate to maximize internal operating efficiencies.
Departmental Goals:
Actively contributes to achieving departmental goals as outlined in the annual business plan.
Participates in departmental process improvement plans and other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in compensation strategy
Merit module experience
Proficiency in writing and standardizing job descriptions and templates
Excellent communication and writing skills
Experience with HRIS systems
Market analysis experience
Experience designing short- or long-term incentive plans
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with PeopleSoft
Experience in healthcare-managed care, or non-profit sectors
Experience in department mapping and career-building
MBA or related advanced degree
CCP certification
