Senior Chemist for Cosmetic Products

Leading OEM/ODM manufacturer in the beauty industry seeks a senior chemist to join their team in NJ.

Responsibilities include overseeing technical aspects of Research and Development categories and managing a safe and organized laboratory environment.

The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience as a chemist, specifically in the cosmetics industry, working on skincare, color, powder, and/or foundation products. Capable of developing and formulating unique products.

Japanese language skills are highly desired but optional.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

• Adheres to set objectives and standards. Independently completes product development projects from inception to completion (Published formula) to meet launch deadlines, with support from director as needed. Investigates/researches problems/issues.
• Oversees daily activities in the lab. Manage and train Chemists/Jr. Chemists/Lab Technicians.
• Develops and refines formulas; performs product stability on all formulas with knowledge of shade matching the following categories and resolves stability issues.
• Monitors the quality and conformity of formulas
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Identifies raw materials and technologies suitable for product development
• Demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness in proactively identifying and proposing solutions to issues that may arise during product development or in transfer to manufacturing
• May interface with technical support groups including marketing, product development, analytical testing facilities, process development and manufacturing

Requirements:

• Minimal Bachelors in Chemistry, Biology or related field of Science with 5-8 years or Master’s Degree with 3-5 years related work experience in cosmetic/personal care formulation experience.
• Knowledge of product innovation and development processes.
• Good communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
• Formulation, analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
• Japanese language skills are highly desired.
