ARM Group is looking for a Senior Buyer/Planner position for one of its multinational clients in Houston, TX.


GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Senior Buyer/Planner leads the tactical planning and purchasing functions for our client’s whole goods and related direct materials. This role is responsible for matching supply against demand plans across various products' model groups, developing material replenishment plans, and lead procurement activities for the same for client's Assembly and Distribution Centers. A key focus of this ‘hands on’ role is to coordinate the planning and procurement of direct materials (components) so that they are available at the right time, right quantity, right location and at optimal inventory level.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will mainly entail, but not be limited to the following tasks:

  • Establish material dispatch and delivery priorities based on approved sales and production plan, supplier lead-times and stocking norms to ensure an achievable weekly / monthly revenue plan.
  • Translate rolling constrained production plan into BOM component purchase requirements by supplier. Reviews and processes requisitions to purchase orders and communicates requirements with suppliers via supplier portal. Ensure compliance with company SRM system including PO release, confirmations and ASNs.
  • Manage supplier performance including adherence to plan, root causes of delays, risks, and recommendations.
  • Reviews and maintains MRP planning parameters (i.e. lot/order size, lead-times, safety stock) as inputs to supply plan.
  • Monitor performance of the replenishment plan on a daily / weekly basis including inbound material visibility and supplier date adherence. Identifies risks and/or opportunities within the supply plan and execute necessary changes in a timely manner.
  • Communicate rolling forecast to domestic and international suppliers. Leads regular weekly and monthly supplier reviews.
  • Responsible for end-to-end procure-to-pay cycle and resolution of any discrepancies. To include GRIR reconciliation for products and related bill-of-material components.
  • Collaborate closely with production operations, product development, sourcing, and sales on new product introductions and transitions to ensure material readiness and zero obsolescence.
  • Support and influence initiatives to drive continuous improvement, agility, and visibility across the supply chain by leveraging existing / new technologies and best practices.
  • Analyze inventory, take-rates for direct materials and allocation of material between plants. Provide recommendations that balance stocking levels appropriate to support sales and operations plan (S&OP).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related area with minimum 5 years related experience in buying, planning and supply chain.
  • Professional certification a plus (i.e. CSCP, CPIM, CPP).
  • Strong background in supply chain principles including purchasing, planning, inventory management. Comprehensive understanding of MRP systems.
  • SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Understand volumes at various levels of aggregation. Knowledge of the supply chain and the impact of business and production planning on procurement and working capital.
  • Strong computer skills with intermediate to advanced experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • This position must demonstrate strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and technical skills along with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of management within and outside the company including domestic and international suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and able to manage a variety of high priority tasks in a fast paced, seasonally impacted work environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and make clear and presentable recommendations.
  • A well-developed ability to deliver presentations to management, with summary of detailed analysis and recommendations for action.
  • Must possess solid judgement and work autonomously from established goals and established key performance indicators (KPIs). Strong follow-up and delivery on commitments.
  • Must speak and write fluent English
