Senior Business Value Engineer


Job Description

The SUSE Product & Solutions Marketing team is seeking a Senior Business Value Engineer, who will help drive the growth of awareness, demand, and adoption of SUSE’s entire portfolio of products, solutions, and services across key vertical industries.

Reporting to the VP of Global Product & Solutions Marketing, the Business Value Engineer (BVE) will play a pivotal role in SUSE’s go-to-market process, acting as a trusted advisor to sales, business development, partners, and prospective/existing customers. You will be responsible for demonstrating the tangible business value that SUSE products and solutions can deliver, through in-depth analysis, tailored presentations, and strategic consultations. This role combines technical knowledge, business acumen, and excellent communication skills to drive customer awareness, demand, and adoption, and support pipeline growth.


As a senior business value engineer, you will have relevant, progressive experiences working in a role leading business value assessments (i.e., business value engineering, solutions marketing, management consulting, IT consulting). You will have outstanding analytical abilities, verbal and written communication skills, and a strategic and consultative mindset. You will drive business-value-driven, persona-based, use case and solutions positioning and messaging, develop customer-facing business value content.


Specifically you will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the target personas, and business value proposition in SUSE’s core product businesses.
  • Conduct comprehensive business assessments to understand SUSE customer needs, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with regional sales leadership and management to identify and help nurture value-driven opportunities
  • Develop detailed business cases and ROI models to support go-to-market motions for SUSE products and solutions.
  • Develop and present customer-driven use case findings and recommendations to SUSE business owners and senior leadership, highlighting the strategic benefits, business value, and ROI.
  • Develop and deliver vertical industry business value for selected industries such as telco, retail, financial services, healthcare, among others.
  • Work closely with product marketing, product management, sales development, strategy, and CTO Office teams to create business value propositions for SUSE products and solutions
  • Engage with C-level executives and decision-makers to articulate the business value of SUSE products and solutions.
  • Foster strong relationships with sales, solution architects, partners, and customers, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the go-to-market process
  • Coach and enable sales teams to have compelling business value conversations
  • Develop in-depth ROI/TCO value models to quantify business value that can be achieved through SUSE products, solutions, and services
  • Collaborate with product marketing on messaging & content to ensure consistency with the Business Value marketing content and tooling
  • Stay current with industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop and share best practices, tools, and methodologies to enhance the business value engineering practice at SUSE.

Required Skills:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5 plus years of experience in business value engineering/consulting, or product/solutions marketing
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering business-value and usecase solutions marketing content and campaigns for enterprise and cloud products and services. into successful businesses, especially for enterprise products
  • Proven analytical skills and strategic thinking. Demonstrated ability to develop customer-obsessed, creative/non-traditional solutions and use cases.
  • Strong leader, self-starter and proven team player in a high achievement-oriented environment.
  • An experienced presenter who is comfortable presenting to various size audiences both technical and executive-level
  • Proven track record of advising senior business stakeholders towards successful business outcomes
