This position is the primary resource for leave management programs including employee and manager education, department communication, policy application, and direction. Responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations related to the MFC’s health, welfare, and retirement programs.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
Oversee and administer employee leave requests in accordance with FMLA, ADA, state and local leave laws, and short-term and long-term disability plans.
In partnership with MFC’s leave of absence provider, ensure absences are accurately reported, tracked, and recorded. Updates employee HR and Payroll records accordingly.
Communicate with HR Business Partners and Payroll regarding newly opened claims, pending claims, and return-to-work notifications.
Provide support to employees and managers with benefit inquiries, information requests, or those needing assistance with enrollment or claims issues.
Approve and process qualifying event enrollment requests within the HRIS. Collect and maintain the required supporting documentation for all enrollment events.
Responsible for the timely distribution of benefits-related communications and scheduling vendor-sponsored onsite events.
Assist with annual open enrollment by helping to develop and review enrollment communication materials, verifying enrollment data, and general assistance with new implementations.
Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws, including FMLA, ADA, USERRA, and state and local leave laws.
Occasional/Other Responsibilities:
Audit carrier invoices for accuracy and prepare/process for payment.
Prepare ad-hoc reports regarding benefits as requested.
General administrative tasks supporting benefits or HR-related initiatives.
Position Requirements
Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
5 years or more of experience working with welfare benefits for self-funded and fully insured plans and administration of employee leave programs.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field
7 years or more of experience managing welfare benefits for self-funded and fully insured plans and administration of employee leave programs.
