Role Overview
As a Senior Appraiser, you'll collaborate closely with our Appraisals team and Trust, Estates & Private Clients (TEPC) Department. Your primary responsibility will be conducting comprehensive appraisal assignments and facilitating consignments for auction. Building enduring relationships with private collectors, institutions, and industry contacts will be pivotal, aimed at delivering appraisals and securing consignments to meet or exceed annual financial goals. Your daily interactions with clients and team members will embody our company values, ensuring exceptional service and support.
Key Responsibilities
Perform formal, detailed appraisals for various purposes such as estate tax, donation, gift tax, and insurance appraisals, adhering to USPAP guidelines.
Collaborate closely with the EVP of Appraisals to expand departmental services.
Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries regarding appraisal services, consignments, and auction offerings.
Proactively seek out new opportunities to increase transaction volume across appraisal, consignment, and buyer services.
Given our global reach, occasional flexibility in hours and cross-departmental collaboration may be required to meet client needs.
Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art, Art History, or Arts Management; advanced degrees are advantageous.
7-10 years of progressively responsible appraisal experience within your area of expertise.
Strong familiarity with USPAP guidelines.
Deep knowledge of one or more specialized areas related to our business.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey expertise and authority in your field.
Proven track record in generating new business, including a dedicated client base.
Exceptional organizational, teamwork, and administrative abilities.
Demonstrated ability to deliver consistent results.
