Job Summary

The Senior Analyst, Retail Media Performance, will be responsible for analyzing vendor marketing campaign performance, providing strategic and data-informed recommendations and optimizations in a compelling narrative, all with the goal of driving business growth for the client and for Petco. Your responsibilities will involve analyzing data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to enhance marketing campaigns. This role requires a deep understanding of marketing and media/advertising strategies, data analysis, and the ability to provide actionable media recommendations that align with our company's financial objectives while optimizing vendor ROAS and campaign performance. Responsibilities may also include developing insights on yield management strategies to optimize revenue, pacing and pricing across our various owned channel advertising inventory and campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis: Deeply analyze vendor performance marketing data, industry/market trends, and competitive performance to make data-driven recommendations on media strategy and opportunities.
  • Campaign Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, track consumer behavior and market trends, evaluate the success of marketing efforts, and provide actionable recommendations and insights to vendors.
  • Reporting and KPIs: Define and monitor KPIs related to revenue, reach and frequency, and overall campaign performance, and provide insights and recommendations for improvements.
  • Client Engagement: Collaborate with account management team to review campaign performance and optimizations/enhancements for the future.
  • Collaboration: With various cross-functional retail media and business stakeholders, including sales, marketing, data science/analytic teams and align strategies to achieve common goals/objectives.
  • Yield Strategy Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement owned channel advertising yield management strategies that align with business goals, vendor requirements and market conditions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Data Science / Analytics, Finance, or a business-related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in performance marketing analytics, marketing/media strategy, business reporting, or analytics consulting. Demonstrable business/financial acumen (understanding retail, customer behavior, seasonality, inventory, and marketing).
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, with high proficiency in data analysis tools and scripting/automation software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, R; Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics; Looker, Tableau; Snowflake) to extract insights from marketing data, and visual and written data storytelling experience.
  • Ability to interpret complex data sets and identify trends, patterns, and formulate actionable recommendations, especially utilizing statistical methods and analytics packages. Track record of collating insights across channels and programs to tell a meaningful, unified story.
  • Significant experience in putting together presentations with insights to clients, partners, and/or senior leaders, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills and presence (in person, on phone, virtual meetings, email & chat) with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including executive management.
  • Comfort operating amidst ambiguity.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and be comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; great organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to develop and influence effective media strategies with internal teams and external advertisers.
  • Understanding of digital marketing channels (e.g., social media, email, SEO, PPC) and their impact on campaign performance.
  • Advertising yield management experience would set you apart: Demonstrable and practical knowledge of impacts across inventory, timing/seasonality, pricing/elasticity, predicted and forecasted customer trends.
  • Expertise with the following:
  • writing SQL queries, Python scripting, R/statistical packages
  • web analytics tools (e.g., Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics)
  • dashboarding tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau)
  • Snowflake (or similar customer data platforms)
  • advertising clean rooms
  • DSPs such as DoubleClick or Trade Desk
