Senior Accountant

Steven Douglas has been exclusively engaged by our highly successful private distribution client located in Jacksonville, FL. They're looking for a strong Senior Accountant to join their growing team, the position will pay up to 90k+10% bonus.

The role will report to the Assistant Controller and support GL accounting, month-end close and financial reporting for multiple entities. There will also be exposure to intercompany transactions and fixed asset accounting. Candidate's with M&D industry exposure and a process improvement mindset are highly preferred. Responsibilities:

• Execute the preparation and posting of journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring comprehensive accounting support in an environment with high transaction volumes across multiple ERP systems.
• Oversee the timely release of financial statements, ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Develop and maintain thorough account reconciliations, taking full responsibility for identifying and addressing reconciling items. Provide support for the Balance Sheet review process involving the CFO, Controller, and Assistant Controller.
• Analyze current accounting and business processes, recommending enhancements to strengthen internal controls and streamline workflows to achieve a three-day month-end close.
• Ensure the accuracy of intercompany transaction accounting, including the proper execution of intercompany eliminations during consolidation.
• Deeply understand transactional activities within the general ledger, delivering precise and dependable analyses and reports to management and other Finance team members.
• Assist in various audits and tax reporting requirements, including financial statement audits by lenders, external auditors, and tax teams, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal reporting standards.
• Review and ensure proper accounting for inventories, establishing necessary reserves such as LIFO and obsolescence reserves. Conduct physical inventory counts as an internal auditor when needed.
• Ensure proper accounting for fixed assets, aiding the Assistant Controller in creating top-tier processes for fixed asset record-keeping and accounting.
• Work closely with stakeholder teams to develop required analyses and documentation, effectively communicating with managerial and executive teams. Cultivate strong relationships with other departments, including sales, operations, customer service, and IT.
• Assist the Assistant Controller in evaluating the impact of new accounting standards on the company and lead the implementation process for new pronouncements.
• Design and perform ad hoc reporting tasks, collaborating with other finance team members to ensure consistent and aligned reporting for management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• 4+ years of relevant accounting experience (Strong GL and M.E. Close)
• Manufacturing and/or distribution industry experience (strongly preferred)
• Strong Excel and ERP system skills
