Senior Accountant

WHAT IS THE POSITION
The Senior Accountant at Edmentum is responsible for completing timely and accurate month-end close responsibilities, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliations, as well as other ad hoc projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, the ability to think critically, and the desire to improve processes and implement best practices. This position requires a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Responsible for assigned monthly close tasks including, but not limited to, the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other miscellaneous analysis. Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and completeness as it pertains to the close process.
- Research and interpret accounting standards to ensure our compliance with US GAAP on technical accounting issues, which could include deferred commissions, capitalized product development, debt modifications, purchase accounting, or other technical accounting matters that arise.
- Research and analyze variances and unusual transactions as identified. Communicate and resolve as appropriate.
- Assist with year-end audit and tax workpaper preparation as well as annual budget and periodic forecasting.
- Prepare the monthly statement of cash flows and assist with lender reporting packages.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures for annual reporting requirements.
- Review monthly account reconciliations prepared by others on the team to ensure accuracy.
- Recommend, establish, and maintain controls to ensure accuracy and provide safeguards.
- Complete other duties as assigned and provide backup to cover absences and manage workload efforts.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
- 5 or more years of relevant experience required
- Public accounting and/or CPA license required
- Big 4 or large public accounting firm experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards
- NetSuite experience a plus
- Detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in financial reporting
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
