Senior Accountant


Summary: Our client, one of the top 10 largest companies in the US, headquartered in Charlotte, NC is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team. The Senior Accountant will have the opportunity to grow within an international multi-billion-dollar company which has recently been named one of the best employers for diversity! This professional would review contracts and prepare monthly journal entries, payments, and reconciliations for those contractual obligations, as well as reconcile and ensure P&L statements and balance sheet accounts are an accurate reflection of the results of the period. As a senior member of the team, this positive and self-motivated leader will get the chance to mentor and assist both new and existing associates and grow their leadership skills!


Location: Charlotte, NC (Airport area)

Schedule: Hybrid - two days REMOTE

Responsibilities:

  • Review contracts to identify and interpret complex financial obligations
  • Ensure compliance to contract terms and commitments including, commissions, volume allowances, profit splits etc.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, payments, and reconciliations for such contractual obligations
  • Ensure accounting conforms to the Group Accounting Policies and Procedures manual based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Ensure monthly profit and loss statements are an accurate reflection of the results of the period
  • Prevent earnings management through appropriate use and validation of journal entries
  • Partner with internal departments such as Corporate Accounting, Legal, Technical Accounting & Audit, STG, etc., as well as Field Finance and Operations management
  • Ensure balance sheet accounts reflect the correct balance and are reviewed and reconciled monthly
  • Analyze profit and loss statement and balance sheet for possible misstatement/defalcation Use all available tools to maintain highest degree of internal control possible
  • Drive, create, and implement new processes and strive to identify and implement process improvements for existing procedures
  • Create and maintain checklists to ensure compliance with contractual terms
  • Be a leader in the department, assist peers, and act as a mentor to new or existing Field Accounting associates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years accounting experience
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel and SAP
  • Experience with Hyperion/Essbase a plus
  • Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines
  • Must be a quick learner and self-motivated
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills and a positive “can-do” attitude
