Position Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join their Finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing financial operations, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements within the insurance industry. This Senior Accountant position offers an opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the financial success of the organization.

Responsibilities Of The Senior Accountant

• Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparation of financial statements and reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of transactions.
• Manage the general ledger and maintain chart of accounts in accordance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct variance analysis and financial performance reviews to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to support strategic decision-making.
• Prepare regulatory filings and reports as required by insurance regulatory authorities.
• Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and regulatory examinations.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
• Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry best practices, and ensure compliance with relevant updates.
  
  

Qualifications For The Staff Accountant

• Thorough understanding of GAAP principles and familiarity with statutory accounting principles (SAP) for insurance companies.
• Proficiency in accounting software as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and precision in financial reporting
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  
  

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
