Security Guard

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Responds to emergency calls as needed

  • Provide a visible and approachable security presence within the community health center premises.
  • Ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors by monitoring and patrolling assigned areas.
  • Demonstrate compassionate customer service while maintaining a command presence to address potential security issues.
  • Collaborate with health center staff to create a welcoming and secure environment for all individuals.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms, following established protocols.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential security risks.
  • Assist in the enforcement of health center policies and procedures related to security.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, including patients, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide assistance to individuals in need, demonstrating empathy and understanding in challenging situations.
  • Complete detailed and accurate incident reports as required.
  • Deescalate situations quickly and effectively
  • Communicate effectively with local authorities as needed
  • Escorts staff to their vehicles as needed
  • Will be required to work occasional nights and Saturdays
  • Will be required to be on an on-call schedule for afterhours support
  • Performs other job-related duties as required

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in security or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a security guard, preferably in a healthcare or customer service-oriented setting desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on compassion and empathy.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and command presence while displaying empathy and understanding.
  • Knowledge of security procedures and protocols.
  • Basic computer skills for report writing and incident documentation.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to stand and patrol for extended periods.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee’s physical effort may require the ability to stand, walk frequently, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladder, talk and hear. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Will work both inside and outside year round, alone or as member of a crew. May be exposed to noise and bio hazardous waste.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Customer Service Experience Required.

Previous experience in Security and Public Safety preferred.

Bilingual is preferred.
