JOB OVERVIEW:

This individual will be working directly with our Senior Staff Writer to assist in the coverage of the Los Angeles Rams for therams.com. This person will attend press conferences, conduct interviews, and write articles to inform fans of the Rams’ on-field and off-field activities. This person may also help with long-term projects, sports analysis and historical research for the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write articles based on transactions, team news, press conferences and interviews, as well as off-field stories.
  • Support coverage of marketing and other cross-functional department campaigns as needed, including community initiatives.
  • Post content (articles, press releases, videos, transactions) to official websites using a content management system.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Senior Staff Writer, digital media team, and Rams in-house Media team in developing content calendar.
  • Conduct player/coach interviews, as requested.
  • Manage various tasks for home/away games, including weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Actively participate in the monitoring of social media channels to be aware of what fans are talking about and assist in coverage of breaking news.
  • Assist digital media team/in-house Media team during daily practices, press conferences and events as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • College degree in journalism or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient, creative writer with background covering sports, preferably football.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly collaborative and creative.
  • Ability to work under multiple deadlines with multiple tasks.
  • Exercise good news judgment.
  • Above average fluency in X (Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • General knowledge of football and the NFL required.
  • Ability to display the utmost professionalism in multiple environments.
