POSITION SUMMARY

Manomet’s science team is seeking a Seasonal Shorebird Technician to monitor shorebirds on the upper coast of Texas for our East Bay Water for Shorebirds project.

This collaborative project seeks to allocate water to provide habitat for migrating shorebirds. Private and public lands near East Bay received water during a drought last fall, and properties were monitored throughout the wetting period to measure the effects of fall water delivery on migrating shorebirds. Many shorebird species were seen during these surveys such as Buff-breasted Sandpiper, Upland Sandpiper, Semipalmated/Least/Western Sandpiper, Marbled Godwit, Greater/Lesser Yellowlegs, and Short/Long-billed Dowitchers. We are expanding the number of project acres in fall 2024 and need to expand monitoring efforts accordingly.
