The Position

In this dynamic lab-based role at Maze Therapeutics, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to discover and validate biomarkers for multiple programs across the pipeline. You will leverage your expertise to design, execute, and build upon experiments, translating genetic insights into meaningful clinical applications. Collaborating cross-functionally from discovery to clinical sciences this role requires you to think critically about data, analyze results rigorously, and develop innovative experiments that drive our scientific programs forward. Your work will have a direct impact on patients, bridging the gap between preclinical discoveries and clinical development.

Your Impact

  • Independently design and execute studies to identify novel biomarker concepts and explore their relationship to drug mechanism of action
  • Collaborate cross-functionally contributing biomarker expertise and point of view to large-scale studies and broader scientific initiatives supporting our programs
  • Make detailed observations, interpret and analyze data, and communicate results clearly in a variety of settings
  • Maintain timely and accurate lab records, adhering to good documentation practices
  • Provide scientific expertise in primary research areas while expanding knowledge of related disciplines across the pipeline
  • Prepare, review and deliver high quality scientific presentations for both internal and external use
  • Contribute to scientific reports and publications, and participate in conferences and academic research collaborations

Skills And Qualifications

  • PhD in translational biology, pharmacology, cell biology, or related science
  • Highly curious and creative thinker driven by translating preclinical discoveries into clinical impact
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex studies through cross functional collaboration
  • Extensive experience with diverse biomarker assay technologies (including ELISA, proteomics, RNAseq, metabolomics) and proven assay troubleshooting skills
  • Extensive experience with cell culture and mouse models of disease
  • Pre-clinical and clinical biomarker experience developing assays and contributing to regulatory documents is a plus
  • Strong publication record demonstrating the ability to conduct independent research
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication

The expected annual salary range for employees located in the San Francisco Bay Area is $131,000 to $160,000. Additionally, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Maze performs position-based compensation benchmarking to industry market data to ensure we pay competitive wages. Determination of starting salary will depend upon a variety of job-related factors, which may include professional experience, skills, and job location. The expected salary range for this role may be modified in the future.
