Scientist, B cell biology

A stealth mode Third Rock Ventures start up is seeking a talented scientist to join the Discovery & Innovation group. The Scientist will be responsible for identifying and driving novel programs for patients suffering from autoantibody-driven diseases. The ideal candidate is an expert lab-based biologist with a background in B and plasma cell biology, who is highly motivated to help shape novel programs. This includes establishing research operating plans with clearly defined inflection points and help design and execute on key experiments together with the pre-clinical group. The successful candidate will work as an independent contributing member of a diverse drug discovery team and will collaborate with senior leadership to influence project and company-level strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Actively review literature and participate in discussions with experts to develop novel programs
• Design and execute in vitro biology functional experiments that support preclinical drug discovery including disease modeling and target validation
• Independently develop and execute quantitative assays (ELISA, cell signaling, flow cytometry) to support molecule validation and quality control
• Lead biology projects and actively participate in, and partner with, drug discovery teams.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Ph.D. in relevant scientific area, such as protein sciences or immunology with high impact, peer reviewed publications and a proven track record of productivity and creativity
• Exceptional cell biology skills (including mammalian cell culture, quantitative assays, functional experiments) and expertise in immunology or other relevant area.
• Capability to work within a dynamic matrix environment, with strong contribution to project strategy and execution
• Excellent communication, presentation, and inter-personal skills; superb organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Expertise in the field of B and plasma cell biology is strongly preferred
